Oh wow. Interesting. The second one, for whatever reason, is.

It has been released in the UK (Region 2) and Italy (Region 2) as I can see.

Part II is good but the DVD is Full Screen (1.33:1 instead of the OAR of 1.85:1), and I still prefer Part 1 for the "haunted house" ambiance and the references to Arkham, Miskatonic and the Necronomicon.

Maybe its The Unnamable II, as Lionsgate lost the rights to both installments.

This is killer news. The Unnamable used to scare the bejezus out of me when I rented it as a kid. Been dying for it to get a proper release so I can retire my VHS.

Wow! First Rawhead Rex and now The Unnamable coming to blu ray? All of my favorite B monster movies from the 80's are finally coming out! Awesome!

Plus, the Dark Side of the Moon is a great little movie, a sort of precursor to Event Horizon. Awesome news!

Edit: What's the third movie? :O

I only seen a few parts of The Unnamable or at least only a few I remember. But I seen II multiple times when it was shown on TV a lot and the DVD the Library had a long time ago.

From what I've seen, I always found the sequel to feel more like a cheap movie shot in a studio. The color palette was also a lot warmer than the cold blue palette of the first movie. The monster never felt as terrifying shot this way to me. Then again, I've never seen all of the second movie. Worth tracking down?

The only Unearthed release I ever bought was the Frankenhooker DVD. It had excellent quality for a DVD. It says 4K for these two films. Fingers crossed that they're great PQ & AQ!

I did a write-up at my Cinema Arcana FB page -- even though it looks like you guys already figured out the titles... (I was in meetings all day!)

Though Unearthed Films has been around for fifteen years, the company’s recent focus has been the distribution of newer, challenging horror titles and the full-on production of similar content, like their successful AMERICAN GUINEA PIG series. However, head honcho Stephen Biro recently teased that they’re “taking a chance” and getting back to their roots with the 4K restorations of a triptych of Paul White productions, all fondly remembered from the VHS era.

First up is Jean-Paul Ouellette’s much-requested Lovecraft adaptation, THE UNNAMABLE (1988). The film follows a group of Miskatonic college kids who decide to stay the night in their local “haunted” mansion. Unfortunately for them, the old stories are true, and there really is a pissed-off, winged beastie stalking the grounds. Can they make it back to class alive? Packed with gothic atmosphere, gory set-pieces and a truly memorable monster, THE UNNAMABLE definitely earns its spot on your shelf.

Second is Bruce R. Cook’s NIGHTWISH (1989), which finds more college kids placed in peril after visiting a dilapidated estate. This time they’re on location for a professor’s out-there experiments, planning to battle the supernatural with science. And there are aliens, or something. It’s all kind of strange, but there’s plenty of gooey KNB FX to keep you occupied!

Lastly is D.J. Webster’s sci-fi terror, THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOON (1990). In the way-off future of 2022, a space crew accidentally travels to the titular eclipse, a sort of astrological Bermuda Triangle that wreaks havoc with their ship’s functionality. When team members start showing up dead, it becomes readily apparent something sinister is at play. A surprisingly creepy, well-made horror that definitely deserves some wider recognition!

A solid trio of films, and though my VHS tapes have served me well all these years, I’m glad to see them all spruced up for Blu. Let’s hope they do well enough to encourage Unearthed to attempt similar titles in the future – I mean, I’m all for exposing newer genre fare to wider audiences, too, but this stuff is much more my speed! Watch this site for further details!

Woah! This just made my week. I never thought I'd see the day that The Dark Side of the Moon finally got the treatment it deserves. One of the most played VHS in my collection. I could barely make the second photo out, but Nightwish is more fantastic news. Both were near the top of my Lionsgate wish list, but I certainly didn't expect them to even be on the radar for the Vestron line, had they still owned them as I believed. Fingers crossed that Unearthed goes all out for these.

As for The Unnamable, I like it, but I'm more curious what this means for the sequel. I think it's a better, more well-rounded effort than it's admittedly one-note predecessor. Plus, Randolph Carter is less of an afterthought, which is a huge plus. But one thing is certain...

These releases are mine.
