Be open and remember you just need to get in the door.

The rest will happen within a few months.

Never give up and never stop.

thanks!

i got a bite yesterday, but it was for a location that i don't want to work at as the drive is a bit long. and the traffic on the particular road the location is on, is absolutely brutal pretty much 20 hours out of each day. like i'd have to leave about an hour and 20 minutes before i had to be there due to the traffic. so i'm holding out for something closer.

i know i shouldn't be picky at this point, but if i can get something closer, i'll definitely take it.

Depending on the compensation I wouldn't mind a longer commute.

I'll just echo @LucyDiamond and say this, don't think any job is beneath you. I'm not sure what field you're in but a job is a job - I'm sure you don't want to work in food service/ retail but hey you've got bills to pay and well someone has to do it.

i did food service for over 20 years. i got burnt out on it after working 60-70 hours a week for most of those years. and my body just couldn't handle that now after being away from it for 15 years.

and i agree on the compensation being good enough for a longer commute. but the position i applied for was basically just part-time (at this point, looking for almost anything that will get me money, lol) and the cost-benefit ratio just wouldn't be good enough.

Nursing a very sore upper right jaw ....

Had a root canal done yesterday and the tooth wouldn't get numb.
He had to keep shooting me with Novocaine till the tooth couldn't feel anything.

And it felt everything when I got there, I think I might of lost a few pounds ( not being able to eat ) given how badly it hurt.
So it took awhile to get it numb..

Today NO PAIN from the tooth, even did the ice test to make sure, all the pain is from all the times he poked me with the needle in the Gum/Jawline ..

Oh shoot, 20 yrs huh? You've got me beat, I put in about 15yrs in the food service & retail industry- much of that was working both at same time. Nights & weekends as a waiter & days as a cashier/stockboy for a local grocer chain. I don't miss it one bit!!

i have a number of years in customer service, as well. not as many as food service, but enough to know that i really don't want to do it if i can help it.

which really sucks because all the tags i get about jobs is in customer service because that's what's on my resume. it's like once you get in, you can never get out.

ot: had to fix the dishwasher earlier. the door spring had come off. i thought the string was broken, but luckily it had only slipped off the hook. so i got it back on there and all's good.

I think I am above food service but I did do it from 1998-2013, been doing other jobs since. After I finish my LMFT schooling I doubt I will ever go back to food service again. Just way too much stress and work and way too little pay.

I have always thought that everybody should have to work in the food service industry at least once so they know how to treat people that do that job.

And/or just outright rude and obnoxious patrons treating servers like hired help that they can boss around.

I did it for a hot second before I went into the Army, ( I liked working at the Carwash better ) but becuase of it
I've never given any Fast Food Worker any grief.

And after I retired, my (than) wife worked in a high end Members Only Club.
Started as a Bartender went to Server and ended as their Banquet/Special Event Director ..
For the first two positions we partied with and hung out with the Wait Staff, but once she became management ( Banquet/Special Event Director ) we didn't hangout with them anymore ....

PS
She became such a snob
Even ended up marrying one of the Club Members

Ironic that discussion is about service workers after I had shitty service last night. I usually tip well, but just couldn't do it. I'm not hard to please, but I know the difference in effort put in to satisfy paying customers.

OT, coffee, news and ...
