It looks like I’ll be packing everything I can soon.
One Diamond Mine announced they were suspending operations yesterday.
A few minutes ago I heard the other Mine is too.
The Mine I’m at will be doing the same very soon.
Hopefully there’s gonna be a healthy severance package.

Yes, you’d think so.
But the workforce here is mainly from South. They travel through many major airports in Canada to get here.
I’m hoping that we don’t shut down, not soon anyway. I gotta make some moola to survive once we actually are unemployed. Savings will get me several months but after that...

One said 4 month suspended operations.
The other sent the workers home that are from the small surrounding communities. They don’t have hospital or health workers and don’t want them bringing anything home. Thst mine is operational for now.
The mine I’m at will do the same thing. I believe they want to keep going as long as they can, which works for me. But the limited airline travel may mess that up. Too many southerners are concerned about how they’ll get home.

I could do with some fruit & veg so, rather than hitting the big supermarket, I was thinking of checking out a few small, independent village greengrocers. I’m going to go for a nice long spin in the country with the lid down as it’s a nice day and I might even take a flask of tea while I take in the views and reflect on all this shite going on.

Fresh air and sunshine. Both free and both good for the body and soul.

Been here in the laundry for twelve years come June.
Have been wanting to move on to other/better things, but trying to look out for my boss who is legit alright, we just can’t seem to get or keep anyone, and because right now it would be quite difficult to nigh impossible to get another full time job, with benefits, in the current state of affairs. Thanks for the appreciation though. I dearly wish more people would appreciate. All of these necessary jobs. Pay us more for crying out loud. People getting paid billions to throw a pigskin ball around and wear very tight pants while people working in these absolutely necessary jobs can often just barely make ends meet.

P.S. Everyone else stay safe as well. As I saw a sign say, “we are all in this together, even though for now we must remain apart.” I dearly hope all this blows over soon and it just becomes yet another annual nuisance we must put up with.
