It has. And it culminated into a 20-hr day for me Thursday.

Good news at least is I got some comp time coming.

Getting ready to go to a funeral of a lifelong friend. He had a long and amazing life. He was 92 and he was married for 63 years. His son is the friend that has driven me to all of my many long distance medical appointments these past 4 years. He was the patriarch of an incredible family.

I can't tie a necktie worth a damn, but what I did will have to do. Funerals are pretty much the only occasion where I need to wear one anymore.

My preferred pair of black dress shoes decided to fall apart this morning, too. The left shoe upper body partially detached from the sole causing the shoe to make a loud clapping sound with each step. Thankfully, I have another pair.

I'm sorry for your loss.

Drinking some coffee and trying to build up the ambition to install new wheel bearing hub assemblies and ball joints on a older car that's been sitting for about 15 years. I've had the parts just sitting around for years, the whole front end is going to be brand new when I'm done with it. It ain't pretty but it's cheap and efficient and my first thought was this would be a great first car for my daughter when she turns 16 but she has zero interest in it. She wants my '63 Dart that I inherited from my mother but ain't no way that's going to be her first car.

Did a lot of work around the yard today (mowing, clearing and hauling brush) so I’m in the AC enjoying For a Few Dollars More & I reckon I’ll sleep like a baby tonight.

Sitting at work on break. Been here over 10 years and this is the first time we have had to work a Sunday. Due to our machines falling apart and not running at all. Saturdays this time of year are normal. Sundays? Talked about in the past but never acted on. We run 24 hours a day 5-6 days a week. No wonder stuff is worn out.

Some glue probably would have gotten you through the funeral. I’ve noticed they are rather relaxed and informal these days. I’ve seen people show up in a T- shirt and sneakers. I think the important thing is to be present. While some may consider it in bad taste to wear street clothes, the family is always glad you came to pay your respects. I also wore a suit to the last funeral I attended & I observed exactly what I described a few lines up. Zero compliments on attire ‘cause nobody cares.

It was a long drive so I wore my slacks and then put on my suit jacket and tie when I got closer. By closer, I mean the parking lot.

Sorry for your loss but 92 is a helluva life.

He indeed had a blessed life; it was my privilege to have had such a great friend and for so long.

I dress formally for funerals because it is how I was taught. I continue the tradition as an expression of respect.

I noticed that I was in the minority, except for the funeral home staff I was the only one even wearing a tie yet alone a jacket. That's ok, though, it is not for me to judge people for what they choose to wear and I am certain that their presence was every bit as much an expression of respect as was mine. We were there for the family and for each other.

I've noticed that as well. The last few funerals I've been there have been LOTS of people there not properly dressed (imo). One of that I went to, there was someone wearing cutoff jean shorts, a tank top, and flip flops. I didn't even personally know the deceased (it was a friend's dad whom I'd never met, but I went for my friend), but I still wore a dress shirt, tie, dress pants, and dress shoes. And I'll continue to do that for any funeral I go to.

Had a lovely Sunday Funday with the wifey on the Marietta Square complete with luscious vittles and copious drinks. Got back, threw on some tunes and am playing some acoustic gitfiddle.

Worked my way through the Dollars Trilogy this weekend and dipped into some of the bonus features.

Just a delight.

Back to the grind. Monday’s suck. This week is gonna be nuts for me with the possibility of McIntosh calling me.

How did Cedar Point go?

It went great! Very hot day but the park wasn't terribly busy and he had a ton of fun. He rode Millennium Force and Maverick, so two very good rides amongst a bunch of 'mid' rides. And he won a basketball, lol - shocking me again.

Just saw your update post in the other thread. Millennium Force is a classic. How long were the lines?
