I'm getting ready for bed. I shouldn't have stayed up but I ended up listening to Cabin Pressure Series 4.

I'm making the impossible possible.

Again.

Of course.

I'm having a conversation with someone about conflict resolution and how frightened people sometimes put other people in danger by yelling "Calm Down".

I had a talk with a state trooper once and he told me that the most sure fire way to get someone shot in a hostage situation is to tell the "perp" to calm down.

They even have web pages about it.

I dunno...I have to deal with people all day long and I think it is funny how the more basic personality types seem to repeat themselves.

Just felt like typing...pay no mind.

and planning our last day here in The City.
Bbq later with my wife sisters, niece , daughter, step kids and others.
My step son and I looked everywhere for a couple of 49ers jerseys and came up dry. I already have an older Montana one, but it would've been cool if we found one for him.

sure.

to put it shorlty : burnout.

a little explation : started in a US owned company here in Finland 13 yrs ago. in IT dept. of 5 people. over the years downsized to 2.

and my day was like : at least 8 am to work. off about 4:30. then US office startd the day. (time difference you see) and they started to call me, email, having conference calls. my work day continued to 12 pm. and I got no money from the work i did at home - tho everyone addmitted i did it and did it well.

then I started at university to study IT.

one may ask when I had the time ? did not ! i slep only couple of hours, workd at office, worked at home and studied at home.

then collapse.

sick leave.

did not want to go back -> quit.

now looking 4 work.

I know it was stupid of me to try to cope w/ no free time and being stressed out all the time. but ... i loved my work and wanted to get better and move on w/ my 'career'

... colleague in the IT was no good at english so most of the communication was left to me ...

that's it ...

I think it's hard to beat a 9-5 job, and I agree with my uncle when he says that a 9-5 job isn't as common as it used to be. I was studying Computer Science in University as well and I recently obtained my Degree. I'm glad I chose the IT field as it's the way forward (technology wise) and there are always plenty of IT jobs around.

That's unfortunate that you had to quit and I understand why you did. I would have quit too as I love to get plenty of sleep/rest and spare time. I hope you find another job nefilim, and with it progress further in your career. Best of luck dude.

OT - Finished updating my CV. I am now applying for jobs online. Tedious task but it has to be done. I must start doing the lottery.

IT companies/businesses are frequently looking for applicants where I'm from. The type of IT roles are mainly developing and programming.

a lot of people say the same thing here, but i don't see it.

every time i talk to someone i get told i don't have enough experience. i point out my 2 degrees and they tell me i don't have enough "real world" experience.

really? so how the hell did all these other people get their jobs? how did some of these people get their first jobs? it's almost like i'm being punished for going to school to try and further myself.

my dad never went to college and he had a great job for over 30 years. and it was in computers. but of course he had to train other people in their jobs and because they had a degree they made more money than him.

he trained them...

they made more money...all because they had some piece of paper from somewhere that said they passed some classes.

yeah, that makes sense.

almost makes me sorry i ever went to school to get those 2 degrees.

and what's worse is my resume looks bad because i have several jobs where i wasn't there too long. two of them were temporary jobs (1 internship and 1 seasonal) and 1 is where i worked for a coke-head. i quit that one for obvious reasons. and the last one i had i quit because my boss told me it didn't matter if i was on the clock or not. except YEAH, IT DOES MATTER!!! if i'm not on the clock, then you don't get to tell me what to do. if i'm on salary then, yeah, you can do that. i have no problems with that. but if i'm on hourly and i have to clock in every day then you don't get to be my boss when i'm not on the clock.

I notice that most jobs that I have been applying for today do require previous experience, and you have hit the nail on the head when you talk about "Real World" experience. It's not fair nowadays for job hunters, and it is certainly tougher. We have all these big commercial companies competing against each other and it's like you have to be the 'perfect' applicant in order to get the job.

Speaking of the perfect applicant, I've noticed that they want applicants with either a first degree or a 2.1. I find this very unfair. IMO, a degree is a degree. Obtaining a degree is a great achievement but if you graduate with a 2.2 or a Third then (depending on the job) its not good enough.
