Whats wrong with the current Blu of Starship Troopers? Unlike other Verhoeven flicks like Total Recall and Robocop that needed remasters because the first releases were poor, Starship Troopers already looks pretty good.

The U.K. disc looks marginally better than the U.S. disc, but the U.S. disc has more extras. I have both discs for this very reason.

Does seem strange that they're re-releasing it so soon. Contentious framing aside, there weren't any technical problems with the disc, not on my gear anyway.

Watched the Mi4K version of MiB the other night. It's not the home run I was hoping for, as many of the issues inherent to the source are still very obvious, like the baked-in edge halos and the pale, sallow colour in many of the VFX shots (which, in my experience, is surprisingly common to CG from that late '90s period). The old-school opticals - like the dissolve on big Willy as he contemplates joining the MiB - stand out like a sore thumb too, but that's par for the course.
BUT......when it's good, it's very good, with tight grain and some beautifully crisp detail, 'specially on the close-ups. And the CG still holds up remarkably well (slightly dodgy colour aside, natch). Forgot just how damned funny the movie is, too. |

I still hope for more MI4K re-release announcements. Especially Spider-Man 3, because it would be nice to actually complete the trilogy with the best transfers possible. There are a lot of Sony titles worth upgrading though. |

I would love to pick up Glory, but the lack of extras keeps me from pulling the trigger every time. I just need to buck up and do it.
