I feel certain however that when lack of appropriate information is significantly harming the Blu-ray format he will gladly jump back in to contribute in his area of expertise.

Please be understanding as his executive status is at least a level above Corporate V.P. and his calendar is packed.
so am i to understand that you know who Paid is? The question is does Paid know who you are? Wicky? Dialog?

Yes to both questions. In fact, our paths often cross.
He is wise beyond his years and the man is literally driven.

I think he would have made a fabulous surgeon in another life.

There has to be a link about this presentation somewhere on the internet. I suggest you search under the title and "Chris Cookson" or the title and "Andrew Stucker".
I found a link for you folks to munch on.
Carolyn apparently covered the event………………

Here is an honest question:

Do the studios honestly expect bluray to be as successful as DVD was?

To me that is the equivalent of expecting a new talented basketball player to be as successful as Michael Jordan or a new soccer player to be as successful as David Beckham or Ronaldo?

Or they just expect bluray to be profitable and have success on its own and not being judged as DVD part 2.

Yes, Im aware that I posted this in other insider threads.

Anyone can feel free to comment.
Many believe that it is indeterminate at this time. It all depends on how quickly people adopt high definition displays, how much advertising is put into Blu-ray, the “added value” used to attract the MTV crowd, how long and how damaging the recession is to peoples’ discretionary income, etc.
There are multiple factors involved.

Does Blu-ray have to be as successful as DVD was during its peak years to be declared “successful” on its own merits ?
No, I don’t think so.

I was about to post that it was very quiet in here today, LOL.
I read your above post about Paid when I was about to leave for work this morning, and now it's almost time for me to go home

So, without wanting to blow anyone's trumpet, is it safe to say that we have a couple of very highly-ranking insiders posting here?
Which is great by the way, it's good to know that you guys take the time to listen to us proles and keep us informed as much as you can.

You and Paid strike me as "good guys", does that mean you'll both be fighting the fight against the share-price-obsessed execs that Wicky (I think) has commented on recently?
Bill's DNR issue springs to mind too.
As much as you can of course, I think we all realise that you both work for organisations whose principal purpose is to make money.
Just do it with some class and grace

Bummer!
I will miss his postings.
But I will continue to enjoy the work of his day job!

Sony really has set the benchmark for bringing gleaming classics to Blu (with the exception of Blade Runner).

Penton has not shared his true identity with any of us. But since Paid vouched for him, and Amir really hates him (and that true white hot hate could only be earned by someone Amir knew was higher on the food chain than he is) that's more than good enough for me

Indeed. I finally got the chance to watch A Passage To India, and it is triumph. I don't recall being overly impressed with the PQ when I saw it in the theater (maybe I was spoiled back then), but the BD is absolutely stunning.

It is such a shame we got so little from Lean. He could turn anything into an epic.

You know, thanks to me there are several high level DVD producers who have in the back of their minds how great a documentary from the perspective of craft services would be

That's good to hear.
Do they take heed of what us ordinary folk have to say?

Without having to sift through the constant (subtle and not so subtle) anti-BD attacks that exist elsewhere.

We see diverse opinion here. It's a good one stop shop for the pulse of the community.

It's just general usage of a pronoun (we = the collective here at blu-ray.com). It's not implying that dialog_gvf is a studio exec.
