I have family that still buy DVDs rather than BRs, but are all about the 4k TV talk. I guarantee they will eventually buy a 4k TV and play the same old blus without upgrading to UHD movies.

Blus on my 110" are perfectly fine with me. I will probably buy a UHD player if they upscale the blus, but I'm not replacing my collection with UHDs.

Who knows what displays are going to look like in twenty years.

What is wrong with that image? I find that to be useful.

I'd love to go 4K but I can't afford to, not right away. I love collecting BDs, film is my whole world, but I barely earn more than minimum wage and it took me years and a chunk of my inheritance until I was in a position where I had my full HD 3D TV, sound system and player. To upgrade all of that, and have to start buying all my films all over again, it is something I can't see myself affording in the next few years – if ever.

I'm a cult movie fan more than I am a mainstream fan, and right now we have lots of healthy boutique labels churning out great cult movies in wonderful packages. Maybe once they make the transfer over I'll probably sit down and try and work out how I can finance the transition but until then there isn't enough for me to take upon the massive financial undertaking.

Plus, how much better can 4k really be? When a BD is top draw quality, I just can't imagine it looking any better. Admittedly I've never been in a position to see a BD blown up on say a hundred inch projector screen but you get the idea.

It's only the newer films that would have the 4K resolution. Any catalogue titles that would subsequently appear, would need to be remastered. They're won't be that many of those to begin with.

Also, there's plenty of old catalogue titles, which never made it to DVD from VHS, or DVD to Blu Ray, so you can expect the same to happen with 4K. Maybe, the 4K Blu Ray format will be short lived, as an ever increasing number of people convert to digital downloads and streaming.

I decided to sell mine several months ago because I just couldn't stand the horrible PQ anymore. It has so much DNR that it barely looks better than the DVD. If Universal ever treats it correctly I will gladly double dip.

I voted "No"

I have 500 DVD's, 600 Blus and next year, I start picking up 4K's and the year after that 8K's and so on
