Yea at first they had the darkness pretty much nailed right in. But during the riddle game it brightened up too much which removed some of the dread from it.

I wouldn't mind seeing them trying to fix that for the EE. But not the theatrical BD.

Here's a question. Would any of you by the 3-D version of the Blu-Ray if they had released it with a high frame rate version of the film?

Are you guys talking about the

[Show spoiler] the little guy in the basket writing down a message from the King telling him to let Azog know that he has Thorin. Then the little guy goes ziplining making noises.

He was the wee little guy that was writing down the Goblin Kings letter to be delivered to Azog the warg rider. He was on the zip line.

BTW, does anybody know what he said while he zipped away with the message? Please.

I remember that it was something cute.

My brother and I caught his one this morning in vibrant 2D. I'm not sure how I feel about the way they add stuff into the story that wasn't in the book. I don't think I really felt the story was centered around Bilbo, like it is supposed to be, but instead Bilbo was a supporting character to a larger film, like LOTR. I thought the movie looked crisp and vibrant throughout, except under the mountain with all of the goblins.

I loved the way "The Misty Mountains Cold" was sung by the dwarves in the film. I did like the more upbeat version at the end with the credits too.

I want to see this again tomorrow.

One word: Incredible. I already want to see it again.

Not only did it succeed in bringing me back to Middle-Earth, it showed me a whole new side of it. It also enhanced what I'd already seen in the LOTR Trilogy--I don't think I'll ever watch it the same.

The film was at its strongest when it was true to the novel. I welcomed most of the changes, but some of them felt unnecessary.
[Show spoiler]Not a big fan of the Azog/Thorin stuff.

I got chills when
[Show spoiler]they showed the Dwarves attempting to re-take Moria
and when
[Show spoiler]Thorin got up from the tree and challenged the Orcs
. I just loved the whole first part of the film, because that's the portion of the novel I'm mostly familiar with. It's everything I imagined it would be.

Can't wait for the EE on BD.

That was my favorite scene.

The way Jackson shot that in slo-mo with the flames whipping up around him. He was so %&$#ing bad ass walking down that fallen tree. What a boss!

That's the way the book is also though. With Thorin pretty much the main character for part of the book. It just seems even more so here because of the expansion of the story and the part of the book which focuses more on Bilbo is pretty much all saved for the second film.

I wonder why they chose to
[Show spoiler]recycle that track rather than making a new "bad guy" theme? I associate that sound with the Nazgul as well and was expecting a Wraith to pop out whenever I heard it.

this is all part of the Peter Jackson recycling music and not using the new stuff thing that was talked and bashed about by some critics.
