I remember reading this and wondering why. Is it because Universal won't part with it? A perceived lack of interest? Music rights?

Maybe it's all ready been picked up for future release by The Criterion Collection.

Ummm... I don't think 'Dead Silence' will be getting the SF treatment soon b/c it looks like Universal is releasing the blu in August.

If the Howling II can get a release Nothing is impossible. Scream were very clear about how they felt on that film. I'm hopeful they'll continue to put fourth the effort to get a decent release of Tales from the Hood released on Blu Ray.

This Halloween season if they (or anyone for that matter) can release a Phantasm box set, Critters, The Pit, The Supernaturals, Fright Night 2, The Mutilator, The Slayer, Next of Kin, Liquid Sky, or Return of the Living Dead part 2 then I'll have a very happy birthday. I like some of their summer titles, but I wanna know what's coming this fall!

I'd like to know if the German DVD release of Fright Night Part II in any way indicates that the rights crap has been sorted and made a Blu possible... preferably before I spend bucks on the DVD!

Based on some of the comments in the Code Red thread about some of the German release practices, I'd say it's HIGHLY unlikely. I'd wager it's more likely someone with ties to the German company doing the release is likely lurking on this board and has seen the confusion over who owns the rights, and given Germany's lax copyright laws has decided to take advantage of the situation as it's unlikely anything will come from taking the chance.

Is there a link to preorder the German DVD?

There's some links in the thread in the DVD section, but I'm not sure if any of them are taking orders yet.

I compiled my comments on Empire of the Ants/Jaws of Satan and The Food of the Gods/Frogs from the dedicated threads for both releases into User Reviews for each disc, because these releases could use some more love on the site.

Bordello of Blood
The Car
Darkman 2&3 double
Demon Knight CE
Serial Mom
Shocker CE
Slither CE
Village of the Damned CE
I could see Scream releasing Shocker, Village of the Damned, Demon Knight and maaaaaybe The Car. But I just don't see them wasting a title in their contract on Serial Mom, Bordello of Blood, or Slither.

I still think Ghost Story is a likely possibility as well. And the Darkman 2/3 double feature is pretty likely, given they released the first movie.

And just because Dead Silence has been announced by Universal, doesn't mean that it's off-limits to Scream. Remember, The People Under the Stairs was also released by Universal on Blu-ray first and we're getting a Scream Collector's Edition this year.

Re: Tales from the Hood. Remember that the previous Uni/Shout deals didn't include that many titles. I'm guessing that Universal limits the amount of titles that Shout can license at a time (unlike MGM), so maybe Tales from the Hood didn't make the cut.

Re: Troll. At this point, I wouldn't rule out Kino or Olive grabbing this one.
