I tried searching the forums last night, but I found nothing. Has anyone else had issues with Scream Factory disks and region free players? I bought a Sony BDP-S5500 player from 220 Electronics back in July. I've had no issues come up until I tried to play The Thing. It's Region A but I get Invalid Region when trying to play it. Went back and tested Return Of The Living Dead and get the same Invalid Region message. I sent an email this morning to 220 Electronics, but wanted to see if anyone with this player had this issue and was it an easy fix. Thanks!

Gotta press the correct region button before loading the disc or is it start up... it's too early for this

Unlikely. It's with Sony, and they don't allow new extras to be made.

In case you didn't know, there's already a Blu release...

It would have been nice if The Evictors was on this list. Indeed, there's a handful of MGM horror/sci-fi/exploitation titles not on there which I believe are currently licenced to Shout:

The Amazing Transparent Man (1960)
Beyond the Time Barrier (1960)
The Snake Woman (1961)
The Time Travelers (1964)
The Evictors (1979)
Exterminator 2 (1984) (surely this would do well as a general release?)
America 3000 (1986)
Cyclone (1987)
Time Guardian (1987)

I guess it could be a question of HD masters. I agree with others that the best way of getting some of the pre-70s stuff out there would be multi-film sets of some sort. I liked NoirFan's idea of 2-disc, 4 film sets (though I would squeeze it to 5 films to get everything released). If they did a couple of these at, say $39.99 each, I imagine they would do well, as you'd certainly get value for money. You could have a 'sci-fi' set and a 'horror' set:

Disc One: The Man From Planet X (71m), Beyond the Time Barrier (74m), The Amazing Transparent Man (58m)
Disc Two: The Angry Red Planet (83m), The Time Travelers (82m)

Disc One: The Vampire (76m), I Bury The Living (77m)
Disc Two: The Screaming Skull (68m), The Snake Woman (68m), The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (70m)

It would be a great way to get complete a fair few MGM Midnite Movies upgrades. I doubt Shout have other MGM titles of this era (The Beast with a Million Eyes, Voodoo Island, Attack of the Puppet People, Pharoah's Curse, Doctor Blood's Coffin), but obviously if they did you could change these somewhat.

The remaining titles are obviously harder to group, but a set containing America 3000, Cyclone, Time Guardian and Alienator seems a reasonable genre mix.

I think doing those box sets would be a great idea. I would definitely be in for them. Really would be great to be able to get rid of those MGM Midnite Movie DVDs that are still in my collection because 1 is still not available on Blu-ray. But if these go the limited route at $27 it's too much to spend on these and I'll stick with the DVDs, a lot of these are less than 90 minutes and the value us not there.

I have not seen any of the films on the poll, so I looked up their synopsis and voted for what interested me:
Alienator (1990) - Lasergun hand
Arena (1989) - Monsters
Contamination 7 (AKA: The Crawlers) (1993) - It's Italian, has radioactive trees and a unofficial "Troll 3".
Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake, The (1959) - Headless corpses, skulls, ancient curses and South American Indian tribes.
Vicious Lips (1986) - 80s New Wave band in space.

With regard to Arena, I'm surprised they just didn't do that and Robot Jox as a double feature. I think it has enough cult appeal to do okay as a general release (certainly better than some other titles)

I know the release date is maybe January, but can we expect an announcement for Poltergeist 2 and 3 soon? Really looking forward to the artwork. They've got potential to be great covers!

Contamination 7 isn't nearly as interesting as that description though Four Skulls Of Jonathan Drake is a William Castle-esque blast IMO.

Contamination 7 is really horrible. Not even in a funny bad way like Troll 2. Just a terrible boring movie about killer tree roots/vines. Watched this on DVD a few years back and loathed it.

My current Shout/Scream Factory collection to date (excluding the yet-to-be-released Exorcist III).

Agreed. If this makes the cut over some of those 50's flicks it'll be a sad day indeed.

I've read a positive review that said it was flabbergasting in its awe-inspiring stupidity and makes you question if you've ate drugs. So I don't know, I might like it.

That's the kind of review that almost makes me want to see it.

I only voted for one film, for it's the only one I'd purchase - The Vagrant.

You could have voted to help other collectors get those would be bluray titles that they wanted if you couldnt think of 4 other movies on the list to vote for. Even if it was just any random four. Your votes could help someone get their wishlist title
