It's interesting to speculate where Scream are currently at with regard to their Universal and MGM deals. None of the SDCC announcements were Universal titles, and the last one for this year was The Thing, originally slated for September. So it may be that they exhausted the previous deal with Universal, and will have to agree another for the likes of the Child's Play sequels (maybe they already have in the interrim?). With MGM, I'm guessing the more recent announcements (Poltergeist sequels, Dead of Winter) were part of the same deal as the likes of Carrie, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Child's Play, etc. I guess there might be more titles from this deal left to announce.

Whatever they announce in late October might be a good indication. I'm guessing they'll want to announce something fairly high-profile around Halloween. I believe it was TCM2 and Manhunter last year (I recall Lady in White, Murders in the Rue Morgue/Dunwich Horror and maybe the Species sequels also being announced). That interview with Jeff around SDCC was interesting:

Quote:
There are other titles that we currently have cooking that would’ve been just as splashy that we couldn’t announce for Comic-Con, but we tried.

You'd think they might have secured the deals for these titles since, so maybe we'll see something 'splashy' announced around Halloween. (Hey - Alligators splash don't they? )

1. Scream loves making new extras, so if they did a Seed of Chucky collector's edition, then they'll probably give us more extras. Hell, the original Child's Play Blu-ray had a good set of extras and Scream gave us more.

2. Seed, even if most don't like it (it is still part of the story), needs a new transfer. Child's Play did look good already, but Scream decided to still give it a new transfer. Also, it would be nice to have both of the cuts of Seed available.

3. If they release the rest of the Chucky movies in a box set, like with Halloween (which has the recent Rob Zombie films), then I can see them also releasing Curse.

4. Seed is 12 years old, so it's defiantly not as recent as Curse and I could see Scream having to wait a handful of years for the more modern stuff like Curse (I wouldn't be surprised if they jumped on Krampus when they're allowed to).

Hell Night
April Fool's Day

Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Urban Legend
Urban Legend: The Final Cut
I Know What You Did Last Summer
I Still Know What You Did Last Summer
The Faculty
Yes to all of these, especially a special edition of Buffy!

I showed Buffy in my film class year as an example of a "hero quest" and kids didn't really like it :-(

I would love to revisit Urban Legend in HD. I remember being so excited for that release and then being disappointed after seeing it in the theatre. It has grown on me over the years, but I have never owned it on any format.

Island of Terror (1966)

Virus (1999)
Terror Tract (2000)
Long Time Dead (2002)
My Little Eye (2002)
Cry Wolf (2005)
Altered (2006)
Slither (2006)
The Hitcher (2007)
Whisper (2007)

Then there's the previously-released Universal titles which SF may wish to 'upgrade' as CE's (providing they can get their hands on them):

[Show spoiler]Duel (1972)
Jaws 2 (1978)
Dracula (1979)
An American Werewolf in London (1981)
Jaws 3-D (1983)
Jaws: The Revenge (1987)
Firestarter (1984)
The 'Burbs (1989)
Child's Play 2 (1990)
Tremors (1990)
Cape Fear (1991)
Child's Play 3 (1991)
The Frighteners (1996)
Bride of Chucky (1998)
End of Days (1999)
Red Dragon (2002)
Dawn of the Dead (2004)
Seed of Chucky (2004)
Land of the Dead (2005)
Dead Silence (2007)
Drag Me to Hell (2009)

Then there's a bunch of previously-released MGM titles SF may wish to upgrade (again, if they can acquire them):

[Show spoiler]Last House on the Left (1972)
Teen Wolf (1985)
Killer Klowns from Outer Space (1988)
Misery (1990)
Silence of the Lambs (1991)
Species (1995)
Hannibal (2001)

And post-1970 titles MGM put out on DVD, which they still hold the rights to, and which should still be with MGM:

[Show spoiler]What's the Matter with Helen? (1971) (with Scream)
Daughters of Satan (1972)
The Bat People (1974) (with Scream)
J.D.'s Revenge (1976)
The Attic (1980)
Windows (1980)
The Falling (AKA Alien Predator) (1985)
The Caller (1987)
After Midnight (1989)
Arena (1989) (with Scream)
Clownhouse (1989) (I know)
The Immortalizer (1989)
Night Visitor (1989)
The Ambulance (1990)
Buried Alive (1990)
Mom (1991) MOD
Panga (1991) MOD
Dance Macabre (1992) MOD

Beyond this, there's also a sizeable amount of titles MGM have never released on DVD, but there's question marks over how many are actually still with MGM, and almost all would require new HD masters for sure. They could include the likes of:

[Show spoiler]Stone Cold Dead (1979)
Demented (1980)
Home Sweet Home (1981)
Blood Link (1982)
The Alchemist (1983)
3:15 (1986)
In the Shadow of Kilimanjaro (1986)
The Supernaturals (1986)
The Tomb (1986)
Transmutations (Underworld) (1986)
Enemy Territory (1987)
Open House (1987)
Rolling Vengeance (1987)
The Cellar (1989)
Steel and Lace (1990)
Blood Games (1991)

In sum, there should still be a good deal left in the Universal and MGM catalogues if Scream wish to mine deep enough.
The pain of MGM's library is trying to figure out which ones Warners owns (which means you'll see a blue moon before they licence it to Scream) and which ones Fox owns.

I do think Slither is going to be soon, unless Universal wants to cash in on the James Gunn fame when Guardians of the Galaxy 2 is released. Or maybe Scream wants to wait until Gunn is available for extras. I can see either possibility.

Also I'm wondering, if Fox is letting Scream licence their MGM titles, maybe they can get some straight Fox titles too, like the desperately needs to be properly remastered Predator.

I assume you're aware that Urban Legend already has a Blu Ray from Sony Pictures? It went out of print a few years back but quietly returned to in print status earlier this year and is available right now from Amazon or other retailers.

To be fair, an over the top horror comedy doesn't really speak to people as a 'hero quest' example. I'm sure it's there, but a lot of people don't seem to think horror related films can have deeper meanings, much to most horror fans chagrin. Plus in this day and age, it's getting harder for people to understand when something is intentionally cheesy.

But I would really love a Buffy Scream release, I found the movie way better than the TV show.

They have released Fox titles in the past, but it's been some time now (late 2014). There's relatively slim pickings in terms of unreleased titles (Warning Sign and The Fly II probably being the standouts in a Scream sense), but the prospect of a new release of The Fly (86) is an exciting one, it could certainly benefit from a new transfer. Saying that, I'd be surprised if Fox was willing to licence out Predator.

And there's also Buffy that we were talking about, Fox owns that film under their name too. I would love to see a collector's edition of that.

Paramount and/or Disney so probably a 0-1% chance of Scream/Shout ever releasing it.

Looking over my DVD shelves, another MGM property I'd love to see get a BD release from Scream is the Dark Shadows revival series in the proper aspect ratio.

Yes. I just never felt compelled to pick it up. I can't bring myself to spend more than $10 on it.

Received my first Scream Factory purchases from Amazon: The Fog, Day of the Dead, From Beyond (with slip). Waiting on Invasion of the Body Snatchers, estimated delivery will be this Monday. I'm very excited to watch all of these and to see how they compare to the DVD versions.
