Went ahead and bought Rabid. Going to be watching this tonight after work.

Never realized how scarce this film has been so that was a huge selling point

I couldn't find a specific thread that is discussing the three new Carpenter steelbook releases Scream is putting out come August (Escape From New York, They Live and The Fog), so I wanted to ask in here...

The one I'm interested in picking up (to replace the rather dreary-looking "Special Edition" DVD) is The Fog, but does anyone know if this is supposed to carry over the technical specs from Scream's first Blu-ray release of the title? I believe it has a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track in terms of the audio...

Should the video transfer be the same, as well, and how does that fare?

The Scream Factory edition of The Fog is the best looking Blu-ray of the movie worldwide.

Thanks Trekkie.

Do you have any idea if the steelbook edition is going to share the same technical specs as Scream's first release?

The packaging is the only new thing about this release.

Same exact disc as before in a new shiny case.

Just preordered the Naschy set from Amazon for $44. At that price I couldn't pass it up. Im a total Naschy noob (as much as I love horror Im sad to admit I've never even heard of him until a couple of months ago). I also ordered Dracula's Great Love from the VS sale.

Let me ask since I assume my VS order will be here way before the 20th if I dont like Dracula will I not like any of Naschy's films? Or should I just wait and watch the Scream set first. First impressions can be life long lol

I was sitting on a bunch of Walmart gift cards so I finally grabbed all 3 sleepaway camps and the burning. $5 out of pocket for those and return of the Living Dead works for me!

The Sleepaway Camp series is probably one of my favorite things Shout has released. It might be a nostalgia thing for me but I think they're some of the most entertaining slashers out there. We used to have a TV station back in the day that basically showed horror movies 24/7. All sorts of good stuff on that channel but they had a Sleepaway Camp marathon and I remember staying up all night watching them back to back.

I really ought to buy the two Sleepaway Camp sequels, since I enjoy the first movie so much.

Mayhaps during the upcoming sale.

Naschy films can differ based on the character and director, so if you don't enjoy Dracula (I love it!), you may find one for your tastes in the collection. Dracula is a really good start and the VS release is beautiful, so I would go ahead and watch it. Have fun!

I strongly feel that Sleepaway Camp II: Unhappy Campers is the best and most fun film in the series. Pamela Springsteen is a great villain.

I've always been on the fence for watching The Sleepaway Camp films for some reason. I should give them a go. Unfortunately I already know the twist so Im not sure if that will ruin the film at all on a first viewing.

On the hand I just watched Rabid and thought it was really good. Some great creepy moments and Marilyn Chambers was a great and unique choice for the lead. My only complaint is some of the acting was arguably bad which is surprising for a Cronenberg film but it was one his earlier films too. Overall I thought it was really good though. A great blu ray from Scream Factory as well.

Based on the reviews that I've read of Sleepaway Camp II and Sleepaway Camp III, they are, indeed, quite different from the first Sleepaway Camp.

However, I figure that the fact that I've seen the final shot of the first film means that I'm probably ready for anything. Anything.

The prices on those John Carpenter steelbooks keep freefalling. I like them and have pre-ordered 2 but I don't like this trend of re-releasing something just for packaging. If the prices stay really low it won't bother me much but I still feel like it's a waste of time.
