Does anyone know if there is a way to contact Shout Factory via phone? The only thing I can find is a freakin' email address.

The same problen I had with DeepDiscount. People can say what they want about Amazon and other such places, but they don't seem to make these mistakes.F____k. Ugh.
It's not exactly "double billing;" the first charge is a preauthorization to verify the funds are available. This charge falls off within a few business days. Then they do a "real" charge when they actually ship the titles.

For example, I placed a $181 order the other day and my account was preauthorized for the full amount immediately, but the amount "fell off" my account yesterday. Today, Shout shipped only a few titles from my order and submitted a "real" charge to my account for something like $68.

Not sure why they do it this way but I'm sure there's a rational reason. Many online retailers, like Wayfair.com, do it the same way.

Shout have altered the 'New and Upcoming Releases' section of their site. If it's to be believed, The Resurrected has been moved forward to August 29, and The Spell to August 22. This may be a mistake however, as Slither and the forthcoming Spanish double feature are both listed under their original dates, despite the product pages for both mentioning delays to August. Moreover, I can't ever remember titles being moved forward to the preceding month.

But they didn't do that when they shipped out the first half of my order... My first 4 movies shipped without them doing this... But now they do it before the last 2 items ship? Strange.

I don't think I could handle both Hell Night and Fright Night II in the same year

My Amazon pre-orders all still list these as September releases.

Pay with paypal. You pay everything up front that way and won't have to worry about it. You also end up with an additional layer of protection in the event that the Shout Factory financial information is compromised.

That would be awesome!

I just received my copy of Island of Terror yesterday! Excited to watch it.

The new dates for the September line-up seem to all be 2 weeks earlier. I'm guessing that they are showing when those who order from Scream Factory direct can expect them to ship. I think the release dates are still September for those ordering from other retailers.

Man, Cemetery Man would be a dream come true. I remember seeing that in the theater, it was so dreamlike and strange. Bought the laserdisc as soon as it was available, but oddly I've never owned another home copy of it.

Amazon is always slow to update their listings.
I emailed them about it and I got this message:

Quote:
Hi,

Terribly sorry about that. We launched a new website yesterday, and it had the unintended consequence of sending a number of orders - including this one - to the warehouse early. I have voided the extra authorization, and apologize for the inconvenience. This order is still scheduled to ship at the end of next week.
So they fixed the problem within 15 mins after I contacted them.

Still, thanks for the reply guys.

They absolutely freaked me out yesterday. On Monday night at 8PM I got a authorization charge for $29.61 on my Paypal account. I figured it was the pre-order of Species that I used my Paypal card to order months ago. There was no other thing it could be.

Then at 9PM, another charge for $29.61. This continued at the top of each hour until 1PM the next day. That's right. They charged me 17 times at that price. That is over $500. I didn't notice this until about 7 in the morning and as you can imagine, I exploded. I emailed. I ended up finding a phone number that took a bit of looking and got an voice mail. I even tried their Facebook page. Nothing!

Shout is in LA and I live in the eastern time zone, so I had to wait until noon eastern time and they never returned my call. They did stop the payments at 1PM telling me they finally got the message. About 4PM they sent me an email and apologized and said they had voided those payments. This was yesterday and the money is still not back in my Paypal account as I write this.

I told them they should have a 24 hour number or email for stuff like this. I don't know if this happened to anyone else but it's hard for me to believe it was just me. I told them if I had used my bank debit card I may have not known any of this happened. My bank doesn't send me alerts on payment transactions like Paypal does. It's not the case for me, but what if some person didn't have enough in their account to cover the $500 and checks start to bounce. I told Shout they would be responsible for paying those fees. They responded that they had a 3rd party once but they were no good so they don't use them anymore. don't They don't have anyway of communicating with panicked customers when errors like this happen.

I think from now on I will not use a card on preorders. Paypal for now on. And I still don't know what item the $29.61 is for. I guess Species.

Gah, glad I used PayPal!

Second package arrived today. Robocop 2, TftC:Bordello and Firestarter all showed up with slips. Fingers crossed that the rest have slips whenever they show.
