Given that Christine has had a Twilight Time release and a general release, I wonder if Scream would see much mileage (excuse the pun) in this title. Then again, it is Carpenter... I think the previous release was based on a 2K restoration, so there's one area they could potentially improve on it.

For any director other than Carpenter I would fear that they wouldn't see a market. However, Scream Factory loves Carpenter and they will probably release anything he made if given the opportunity. Honestly, I'm surprised they haven't released a box-set of all the Carpenter films they have the rights too.

And the BB exclusive steelbook!

But I would be down for a SF steelbook to pair with this one.

With Scream Factory I would assume every Carpenter film will get a release, then a steel book release, then included a boxset...

and then a boxset of steelbooks...

No chance WB licenses out a new release title. It just isn't gonna happen.

A Sony deal would likely mean a new release of The Blob (1988). Considering how fast the TT release sold out its 5000 copies it's a no-brainer.

I'm sure they have ideas and plans for it, it would sell like hot cakes.

Here's hoping next month for more august titles they will announce more Sony, WB or Universal titles even independent titles.

I just hope the nature of the deal isn't limited quantities like TT was. Going OOP IMO is just leaving money on the table.

So what other titles can we look forward to?
Off the top of my head...

Happy Birthday to Me
When a Stranger Calls
Fright Night
Stand by me (Shout Title)
Ghostbusters 1 + 2
Night of the Living Dead (1990)
Needful Things
Wolf

I know some are already released but they could get a CE treatment.

if Scream Factory is listening---
I will not double dip "Collector's Editions" of Scream releases if they put out a steelbook later (as much as I wanted to with The Fog, Prince Of Darkness, etc because they are cool looking)

I figure I already have a deluxe edition with a slipcover.

However, I would buy titles that I already have on standard studio editions if Scream released nice steelbook editions...

Example-- I did buy the steelbook edition of Assault On Precinct 13 to replace my Image release.

I passed on Misery, Day Of The Dead, Darkman, Return Of The Living Dead, and others...

In other words, putting out double dip bait in a non-steelbook collector's edition is not enough for me... but a steelbook is hard for me to resist as a collector.

Starman, as well (although it would be better suited for the Shout Select line, imo).

It's Carpenter. They'll figure something out, and it will probably sell well despite the previous releases.

The film has crossover appeal, outside of the horror community, with classic car junkies and greasers. If nothing else, you could do some extras that cater more specifically to that audience.

Ghostbusters 1 and 2 already have perfect BD releases already.

Happy Birthday to Me and When Stranger Calls i hope Mill Creek's thing has expired! Stand by Me CE by Shout be nice, Needful Things is with MGM and Kino has it already.

Wolf now that can use a CE.

Also Ghosts of Mars and the Carpenter-scripted Eyes of Laura Mars. The former is OOP in the US and the latter doesn't have a domestic Blu-Ray release. I could easily see Scream pursuing them, despite the existence of region-free releases from Indicator in the UK.

Not sure a boxed set would sell all that well...not much more features wise they could find to justify it and most people already have the single releases. 4K scans maybe.

The Indicator release is pretty good (booklet is fun) and available for Ghosts of Mars. I want to love it but God every time I watch it things just stick out so much it's hard to ignore how burned out and sloppy he was at this point. Dialogue is horrible, lazy flashbacks and forwards, waste of a good cast etc.

Ghosts Of Mars is a misfire and low tier Carpenter.... but it's still a fun watch!

Fully aware of that fact and Starman would fit well with either label because it crosses multiple genres. It's a wonderful Sci-Fi film with a great emphasis on drama, showing a tender side to Carpenter seldom seen in his other films. Because of the dramatic themes of the film, I see it more as a Shout Select title, but the Sci-Fi elements also make it a good candidate for Scream Factory.
