These steelbooks; I can't decide if I want to get them and sell the slipcovered editions, or just not get them. Can't make up my mind.

Yeah its been out for about a month or two now. It was discussed a bit here and in the bargain thread in the Movies/deals section as well. Both films lack special features and share a BD-50. At $9.99 it's a great buy for the casual enthusiast but likely not what folks in this thread are going to want.

I watched the first movie last night, and I plan to watch the sequels this weekend. I thought the first movie looked great.

Can you comment on the packaging? Is the outer box thick like Nightbreed, or thin like the Amityville Horror trilogy?

Thin like Amityville. Also, when Scream Factory revealed the artwork for the individual cases, they showed the cases with the reverse art. It’s Alive 3 doesn’t have reverse artwork, but instead it has images from the movie on the inside.

Thanks. That's disappointing to hear. Arrow regularly is cranking out those sturdy thick cases for individual film releases so it's unfortunate that the slip box for this collection will be thin and thus more susceptible to damage. The lack of reverse art on part 3 is also unfortunate but it uses this art correct?

If so then I wasn't planning to change the cover anyways. I'm looking forward to my set arriving as well, but since I ordered through amazon I've got a few weeks to go.

It does indeed use that artwork. I’ll post some pictures of the set later tonight.

I ordered the first round, and I’d say they took better care in protecting the lithos than they did the steelbooks. The lithos got their own shipping tube, which was included in the same box as the steelbook, which I can’t remember how well protected those were. Maybe bubble wrap? And crumpled packing paper holding it all in place.

My copy of The Fog showed up ok. Escape From New York had a disc rattling around in the steelbook, which wasn’t scratched. They Live’s steelbook had a couple of dents.

I might get Army of Darkness, but only because I have steelbooks for Evil Dead 1&2. The Howling isn’t too high on the list, and I have Arrow’s release of Lifeforce.

I do have to admit the artwork on these is a huge step up from that weird 3rd person video game perspective look on the Carpenter steels. Can’t say I’m a fan. It was alright on the limited They Live sleeve, but they played it out immediately after. Can the guy simply not draw detailed faces?

Oh, and they really should have gone with proper logos over the plain font. Guess we’re stuck with it now.

I agree, the new art for these is gorgeous! I also agree about the title treatments. See how much cooler they would look:

Only interested in life-force for the 4k transfer, their rights must be expiring soon, so an tempt to squeeze some last $$ out of it.

Was able to pick up Drag Me to Hell with slipcover today at BB for 13.99. Was surprised to find it that cheap and with slip.

I don't own The Howling so I may grab the steelbook. AoD I'll probably get it sometime down the road.

If I didn't already have these would definitely go for these steels.
