Obviously, my point was that they haven't released a foreign language title as a CE. [REC] does have a couple of things going for it though:

1) It's more well-known than most of the foreign horror they've released to date. Let's face it, none of them could have been deemed realistic CE candidates.
2) It happens to be one of Cliff's favourites (well, his 13th favourite foreign horror)

Another overlooked Sony film with no current Blu-ray release is Outpost. The sequels have HD releases, but the first film, which is also the best one, by far, has been ignored.

Carrie is in the same boat as Misery. The Shining, The Exorcist, Psycho or any of the other greats won't be on Scream Factory. They're just too critically acclaimed.

I disagree. I'd put Carrie on the same boat as The Exorcist, The Shining and Psycho. It's a classic horror film.

It's a Paramount-owned title, which might cover the question of why it is oop, but doesn't explain how they got the license in the first place.

I wouldn't say that "The Exorcist" and "Psycho" are better movies than "Carrie" and "Misery", they are definitely all classic films, but I think that the former two films had a wider impact on the mainstream than the latter, which is why I agree they will probably never get licensed to Shout. I wouldn't lump "The Shining" in with that, although I also don't think that will get licensed to Shout.

It's annoying to me because I am just as passionate and as a collector people like Shout!/Scream Factory do have us by the balls when they re-issue things that don't necessarily need it but they know we will all be tempted by the new coat of paint they give some of these old cars, to put it one way. Things like "The Shining" absolutely do not need a Scream Factory release nor do I think they could even do it justice compared to WB if they re-issue it on 4k..
I totally agree with you. I am interested in titles that have not been released on DVD, VHS or blu ray rather than a "Scream" version of a movie. I don't mind it if they take a poor/mediocre release that is barebones in terms of extras and give it a whirl. The current Candy Man disc from what I hear is ok, but the picture quality leaves room for definite improvement.

I shrug my shoulders a bit when a major studio releases a movie like Jaws (1975) with an affordable release that has amazing picture/audio/extras etc, and fans are "hoping" Scream Factory can get their hands on the release. Like honestly, what would Scream do that Universal didn't? Most likely commission some original art and put a slip cover over it. They have taken some studio releases and added a few extras for the right price. I spent $3 extra on the People under the Stairs for the Scream version. Pretty much identical picture, but they added a few interviews from some of the leads that I found fascinating to listen to.

In the end they are a business and certain titles sell better. If they re-release some movies with Steel book packaging/no additional features and a movie that already has a very decent studio release, I am ok with it. I pick and choose if it's worth it to me to go with the Scream version or the studio version. If these titles sell well/fund Scream and it means we get the Corman deal, upgraded catalogue titles from studios that are missing on Blu ray (had not so hot DVD releases) and some obscure thrillers, horror, exploitation and older films, I am certainly happy. A little bit for everyone.

In most cases any title that goes OOP is more than likely due to the license agreement expiring. In order to re-issue these titles they would have to re-negotiate a new contract, which may or may not be worth their while in the end.

More WB goodness, and our first 'new' CE (you sensed it was either going to be this or Deadly Friend). Coming 14th August

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

More zombies and “more brains!” are shambling into our factory this Summer! We’re super excited to report today that the highly-requested undead sequel RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD PART II is (finally) coming to Blu-ray!! Here are the early details we have at present time:

• This will be branded as a “Collector’s Edition” that will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date). U.S. and Canada territories (Region A).

• The newly-commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from Graham Humphreys (who also illustrated our original ROTLD cover back in 2016). This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will the original theatrical poster design.

• Extras and specs are still in progress and will be announced later in early July. However, we can confirm today that we will be doing a brand-new HD film transfer and will be correcting the soundtrack issues that were present on the previous DVD release.

• National street date is planned for August 14th. However, if you pre-order now for early shipping directly from us @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/retur...dead-pa… you will also receive an 18' x 24" rolled poster of the newly-commissioned art. We’ll be only be producing 1,000 of the posters so act fast!

I haven't seen it in years and don't remember liking it nearly as much as 1 & 3 but I own those two so I might as well complete the trilogy. (4 & 5 do not exist)

Oh come on.....this is much better than part 3. I think it's right up there with the original. Very good and entertaining.

And now my coworkers are starring at me like a crazy person because I may or may not have just shouted "YES!!!" in a room of cubicles...

I wonder what the chances are getting a double-feature of 4 and 5 to complete series.
