I must implore my fellow fright fans that are underwhelmed by the two latest announcements to imagine what would have been announced right now if Shout/Scream weren't able to crack Warner and Sony...

Probably an upgrade to CE of Incredible Melting Man and a steelbook of Deadly Eyes.

So I'm thankful for Seventh Sign and even The Bride. With that said, no way am I paying for The Bride. Nostalgia is never enough.

One of two reasons....

1. They were only able to get a mediocre track of titles with the few gems they really wanted.

or

2. They're saving the heavy hitters for Comic Con and 4th Quarter. And possibly even saving some for 2019 as to not shoot the load too quick and be back in the rut they were in before the Warner and Sony deals.

I choose to believe the latter.

Both Deep rising and Seventh Sign are great announcements as Seventh Sign never had a BD release in the USA and i can retire my old DVDs of both films.

Maybe at comic con a CE of End of Days might be a big announcement for more WB, Sony and Universal titles.

People's ideas of "big" titles sure vary wildly, from Chucky sequels (meh) to flops like End of Days. You guys need to think bigger. I think this year's big announcement will be a fancy Nightmare On Elm Street box set. I don't know to what extent Warner is willing to let Shout dig around for extras but the hope is that some of those deleted scenes from the Elm Street sequels will be found and included in an extras package. I think it's too much to hope for Director's Cuts. As definitive as the old DVD set was for it's time, most of the extras were spread around as Easter eggs. I'd like a more traditional (and updated) definitive set.

The Nightmare films remastered from a 4k scan would alone make them worth while. Outside the original film the rest of the films in the current set leave alot to be desired. It would be nice to finally get the original films deleted scenes on a modern format so people can finally retire the old Elite LD. I imagine that they still have the uncut negatives for 5 and the 102 minute theatrical cut of 6. I know rumors are abound about Part 4’s mythic workprint with the mpaa decoy kills but I doubt thats the case. Renny Harlin and the Dream Master cast are pretty notoriius for having loose lips so I think someone would have blabbed if that was coming by now. Unless they have something planned for its 30th anniversary in August.

I’d imagine Shout would probably manage some good extras and it would be great if they managed to get some holdouts from Never Sleep Again to do interviews. Unless he literally pulled an Everett McGill and literally disappeared off the map, I still dont get why the hell Craig Wasson thinks he is above doing any interviews. Its not like he has much else to hang his hat on aside from Body Double.

That would be amazing for the Scream line.

I thought End of Days is a lot of fun and i enjoyed it since i saw it in theaters, it can use a 2K restored CE with extras galore and all. Since the current BD has mediocre PQ and bareboned with only one extra.

Child's Play 2 and 3 need CE BDs with extras galore and 2 is the best sequel in the franchise no doubt as the current BDs are bareboned.

Elm Street movies in CEs would be nice with new PQ restoration and extras galore even deleted scenes.

I like The Bride and I don't care who knows it.
Surprised by the hostility here for this film.
All things considered, its virtues are enough to overcome its problems.
I haven't seen The Bride since it was released theatrically and will give it another look in September.
I had hoped that director Franc Roddam would continue making films in the genre, but he didn't. He had done Quadrophenia, and I liked very much his miniseries Cleopatra.

This should please quite a few people: The Evil, coming 18th September:

Hopefully Twice Dead isn't far away, it would be nice to get upgrades of the remaining Corman DVD-only titles.

I'm pleased with this announcement, but the fact that September remains relatively low-key given the Sony and Warner deals (thus far anyway) is surprising. Maybe they are indeed saving the bigger titles for October and beyond (thus allowing them to be announced at SDCC). It's also possible that they might release more titles than usual in September (they did say a lot was coming later in the year).
