The question is can they even release new blu-rays of the Jason titles with all the litigation surrounding the franchise right now?

I think that's based on future use of the property. I think WB can pretty much do what they want with those two.

that would be awesome - i recently picked up the 8-movie set to upgrade the DVDs and save on shelf space, and missing those two stinks. i loved Jason X when i saw it even though it's bone headed stupid, and the platinum mask in Jason Goes to Hell will really pop in HD

I have the two from the German blu-ray release but want them released in special additions and unrated (JGTH). I actually prefer Jason X but want both. Other than Critters it would be the releases I'm most looking forward to if they do it.

For those interested here is a run down of the lawsuit by Rue Morgue that states it nicely. He just filed in 2016 and is looking to reclaim the rights not really looking for past money or rights to the old stuff. At least that's what it looks like to me.

Since Scream is one of the most popular threads on bluray.com, and I always buy Scream/Shout product (as well as other labels) from importcds.com, does anyone know why importcds is no longer accepting paypal? Their "checkout with paypal" logo has disappeared. For the heck of it, I also tried deep discount, dvdpacific, and moviesunlimited and they all also no longer have the "checkout with paypal" logo button. It's like all these companies are linked together.
Does anyone know what's going on?

They are sister company’s. Could be some kind of dispute between PayPal and Deep Discount. I’ve heard the horror stories about PayPal shutting down accounts for various reasons. Don’t know if they would try the same with company like Deep Discount. Could be the other way around too. Maybe Deep Discount is tired of PayPals shit. They sell on ebay right? I highly doubt they would stick around on eBay without taking PayPal but maybe it’s possible.

Well I guess we can cross Village of the Damned off the list of Scream possibilities. I wonder if Warner will release Children also?

It didn't stop Paramount releasing the 8-disc set. The lawsuit has nothing to do with films already in existence or anything else up to the year 2015. It's only preventing new material from being produced containing certain elements from the franchise.

Would this be why the Friday the 13th The Game is claiming they aren't able to release any future free content for their game now? It sucks cause Jason X was probably right around the corner.

Yup. They stated as much on their Facebook page awhile ago. It sounded like they are completely walking away from developing new content until the legal matters are resolved.

That's a good point, but it maybe the reason that that release contains no new features and the same Video and Audio Specs. Because they weren't creating anything new, it was a loophole. Scream Factory (I'm assuming) would want to at least produce their own special features, let alone a remaster.

Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X and Freddy Vs. Jason don't have "Friday the 13th" in the title, though.

The title isn't a problem. It's the characters, locations and story elements that were created in Victor Miller's original film treatments and screenplays that pose a problem, should he win.

I would imagine that this is the result of consistently breaking official street dates. Just an FYI to folks since I know many people that use this forum enjoy purchasing directly from them.

They’re not only just shipping on the release date, they’re not even taking orders until release date? Strange....

That sucks but I usually order my SF from Amazon anyway. I suspect you are right and it's about breaking street date. But they only mention the August & September titles, what about the others?

My guess would be that Scream Factory is refusing to send them any units in order to ensure that no copies are sent out early. I recall reading about similar punishments to major retailers during the dvd era whenever street date was broken. Since a large incentive to order for some folks is getting a release early, and since Diabolik consistently out priced Scream Factory directly thereby negating any real incentive to order directly from Scream Factory themselves I can't say I'm terribly surprised.

At this time only those two months have been announced so I imagine why it's limited to them. Since July titles already have pre-orders available and sent in to Scream Factory it was likely too late for Scream factory to impose any sanctions on those titles without completely screwing up the orders. Perhaps its a short term punishment and pre-orders will resume for October titles, or perhaps it will be the new standard going forward and once October titles are announced they will be in a similar position. It's hard to say right now, but my hunch is that October titles will have pre-orders early but the days of getting orders early from diabolik are likely over.

As far as Scream Factory is concerned I think you are right. If they aren't even taking orders until the release day then you won't even get the movies on release day but a few days later. Makes ordering SF titles not worth it, at least for me, since with Amazon I'll have them on release date.
