If every moment of the bonus features on this (or any other disc) did nothing but trash the film, I'd understand that feeling. I'm sure there are some out there like that, but I doubt you're going to experience that with this release in total, and likely not even in the entirety of Blair's interview. A 90 second clip is probably not an indicator of the sum total of her feelings. And if it is? I have faith that Exorcist II fans (and I consider myself to be one) can take it; most have probably heard far harsher opinions about the film than anything Ms. Blair will muster up.

I have some mixed feelings on this particular candor from reminiscing actors and actresses. I remember being a bit turned off when Jamie Lee Curtis wasn't particularly fond of THE FOG when she did her retro-interview... and I agree that you shouldn't bite the hand that feeds you.

On the other hand it's memorable, and quite interesting to hear opinions like this... I mean, I still remember those comments!

To me it's preferable to hearing a bunch of phony baloney tripe ("oh, the entire cast was amaaaazing.... the director has such a vision.... oh my co-star is the most talented actor ever.....)

given that choice......

I like honesty, and sometimes actors even hate the good movies they did. On the other hand, some filmmakers really do think their little bad movie was some minor masterpiece. The Prom Night commentary track comes to mind. It was entertaining, but director Paul Lynch was taking it all a bit too seriously while writer William Gray mostly wanted to laugh with the movie (not necessarily AT it). He would riff on something like Jamie Lee Curtis’ dress, but Paul would get all defensive for no reason (albeit in a somewhat friendly way). Come on Paul. Your movie is over 35 years old, and it wasn’t exactly Casablanca, so just relax and enjoy it for what it is. This is coming from someone that adores the movie.

This was real sad to hear. I've been waiting the first and the second part to get a decent transfer for at last, but it seems like I have to stick with the old Shout! release from The Stepfather which is almost dark as Mann's Definitive Edition of The Last of the Mohicans.

This is true. I guess because its technically still an import blu ray (even though we border right were its made). Amazon.ca is the best option because you can bundle the movies with something to get free shipping.

I use to try to support my local video store downtown but I couldn't justify spending the full 34.99 before tax for each release when they came out. We already get screwed with the exchange rate for purchasing anything from the US so amazon.ca is a god send!

Yeah, we all know how that film turned out so it's silly to talk about it as some sort of classic, but Jeff should keep in mind they're doing a 2 disc CE for people who somehow appreciate this film, so to sit and listen the actress mock the film for 20 mins is a little...weird for a release that's supposed to celebrate the film.
Plus Blair seemed like a real brat on set. Always late, complaining about doing tap dances for her character. You're in a John Boorman film and you're not even 20. Be grateful

Catch-22. I'd venture a guess that there would be even more complaints if she gives either a filtered, less candid, interview or no interview at all.

Ok, so before someone says "take this discussion to the Exorcist II thread", let me finalize saying that Blair has never spoken fond of Exorcist II in an interview, like ever, so it wouldn't make sense for her to suddenly start praising the film, but what she says in a random interview where someone brings that film up is different of, again IMO, what she should say in an interview in a 2 disc special edition of the film.
Of course she should be honest about it. But she could say "I don't think this film works at all because of this, I had a terrible time doing this film because of that, etc", sort of like Cristina Raines did with The Sentinel. It's different from the mocking tone she was using in that snippet.

But fine, just my opinion, maybe it was just that snippet and she gave a terrific interview overall, maybe I'm overreacting and that's all there is to say about that film. Whatever.

From what Jeff said during that Shock Waves podcast, they tried to approach the EXORCIST II release on the line between people who genuinely think the film is a remarkable work and those who think its awful.

So has Shout/Scream addressed the whole Amazon thing? I think it’s ridiculous and an absolute slap in the face to the fans that have been supporting them for so long. Sending an email pribably won’t help but I’d like to at least voice my disappointment.

I can understand their stance and wanting people to order directly, which now I feel like I kind of have to.

It's just really nice to have the Amazon option (with competitive prices) if you want/need it.

I just cancelled my Amazon order for Brainscan (A: $29.99, SF:$23.99)Return of the Living Dead II (A: $34.95, SF: $24.99) and Scream for Help (A: $29.99, SF: $23.99)

With how many discs I buy a month, every dime I can save is very helpful.

I could wait to see if Amazon prices go down closer to release date, which has happened many, many times in the past, but that hasn't been the trend recently.

That’s because the price leaders (Best Buy, Walmart, or Target) don’t have those titles listed yet. Amazon thinks with no competition they can keep prices high.

Yeah, they're not available to Pre-order ANYWHERE, besides Amazon and SF.

Why do you think that might be?

Seems like something that might be a SF decision or an agreement between SF and Amazon to disregard the usual channels. Initially, I just assumed it was just Diabolik getting cut off because they ALWAYS sent out discs three weeks in advance of street date.

There's a reason why those titles aren't listed for pre-order on the usual channels and it seems highly unlikely ALL of those retailers didn't want to sell them all of a sudden

I REALLY don't want to buy Blu-rays direct from Shout because of the shipping charges. I'm not panicking just yet and am almost certain prices will come down after street date. If they don't then that'll mean I'll be buying a lot less. Only sticking to the titles I know I'll watch more than once. It'll be Shout's loss.

If the Scream Factory prices included Free shipping those wouldn't be bad deals for new releases, but adding around $4 for shipping per title completely eliminates any sort of savings. Yes, yes I know that if I spend the low low amount of $50+ dollars on an order I can get my movies shipped for free, but I pretty much never spend $50 at one time on movies as release dates are almost always staggered and I much prefer to make smaller orders so that I can stay within budget for the month in the event a major sale unexpectedly happens.

I think the funniest thing about all of this is that you know there will be comments made by someone at Scream Factory in a few months about how certain titles under performed and sales were disappointing for at least a few of these new films.

I am curious to see what happens here in a month or two however. Diabolik initially made a comment about how they couldn't list titles for August and September for Pre-order. At the time I assumed that this would probably also include October releases as well which thus far appears to be true. I'm very interested to see what happens beyond that point however. Is this the new norm, or will December and 2019 titles fall back to the old system? I wish someone, whether that's Scream Factory themselves or another retailer, would comment on the situation. If it's a Warner/Sony licensing agreement then Scream Factory should just say so. If it's a Scream Factory decision then one of the many other retailers getting shafted should just say so. What more could Scream Factory do, refuse retailers the right to sell their product? There's really only one group that suffers in the end if they go down that path and that's Scream Factory.

More power to them, but this peasnant has to wait for sales.
Not if you order over $50. If you preorder multiple titles, they will ship as they release.

If you pay by card, you will get charged when they ship. You'll be charged for the full amount at first and then the charge falls off.

$50 free shipping thresholds are Bullsh*t for something as small as movies.

I literally ordered that $8 Enamel Pin to put me over the $50 threshold for free shipping. The shipping was $6.99 and the pin was $7.99. I figured I might as well get something for my money
