Yeah, I just noticed that the RotLDII price hadn't dropped yet. I don't feel like this is entirely without precedent, as I want to say the Army of Darkness and Tales from the Crypt CEs didn't drop until the last minute, but I guess we'll see what happens.

Worse case scenario: Scream CEs are now like Vestron releases. You either pay $30, or you bide your time and take your chances

The titles on Amazon only ever drop when Target, Best Buy or Wal-Mart offer the films for less. Amazon is content selling items at full MSRP if they are the only big retailer. If you're someone that likes to pre-order it's an issue. If however you're content waiting 6 months to pick up a film then the current issue isn't likely to bother you.

It’s not just ROTLD2 - at Best Buy, you can’t preorder any Scream title that releases after 8/14 except for some of the IFC releases.

It will be interesting to see if ROTLD2 appears at other sites besides Amazon on 8/14 (its release day).

Basically, either Sony, Warner Bros. or both don't want the titles they licensed to Shout/Scream to get out too early and are trying to maximize profits regarding said titles, hence the Amazon or directly from Shout only bullshit.

This just my own speculation, since this started going out right after they got to do titles from Warner Bros. and Sony (AKA the good shit).

I didn't even think of that! But I could totally see the studio's getting upset about this since it's still their content that is breaking street date, even if it's released by Shout!

Lovely..ordered both the The Howling and Lifeforce steels and only the Lifeforce steel and the litho was in the box. . I knew I should have just ordered from Amazon. The Litho isn't worth it.

Not the case, one can’t order the Night of the Demons steel from Bull Moose. This applies beyond WB and Sony licenses. It does seem to effect everything from the Shout Select and Scream lines but DVDs and products that Shout simply distributes on behalf of another, like GKids and IFC, are exempt.

If it were licensor mandated, I’d get it. But that’s not the case here because it’s going for non-WB/Sony releases as well. It’s clearly Shout here that’s up to this stupid retailer holdback.

I say just use Amazon Pay option from Shout’s site. all of my other preorders were through PayPal & paid for, so I have nothing to worry about.

Well you can order Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation & Exorcist 2: The Heretic from Bull Moose, though. I guess because they're "lesser" titles, so Shout and whoever else said "yeah sure", but stuff like the Critters box set, Creepshow and Brainscan are blacklisted.

But you can’t at much bigger retailers like Best Buy, Walmart, or Target.

At least its someone other than Amazon or directly from Shout.

Thing is, I don't like buying directly from Amazon, period.

I noticed that you can’t actually preorder on Bullmoose. They’re just listed there, with a disclaimer...

Of course she should be honest about it. But she could say "I don't think this film works at all because of this, I had a terrible time doing this film because of that, etc", sort of like Cristina Raines did with The Sentinel. It's different from the mocking tone she was using in that snippet.

But fine, just my opinion, maybe it was just that snippet and she gave a terrific interview overall, maybe I'm overreacting and that's all there is to say about that film. Whatever.
PLEASE excuse her if she doesn't talk about one of the lowest periods of her life "Fondly." BTW anyone who buys a 2-disc CE of this film is asking for it anyway.

Must've happened recently, as I ordered Exorcist II a week ago.

...let's all send angry letters and accuse them of being "anti-consumer".

Really? I ordered both at the same time and there was plenty of room for two in the box. I only received one tracking number.
