well, it is a comedy so I wasn't expecting much in the way of atmosphere or creepiness

but I remember being unimpressed with it... haven't seen it in over 25 years!

I haven't seen that movie in years! Would be interested in revisiting it.

The spoof from the early-80s? Saw it for the first time only just a year ago and thought it was hysterical!

What parts did you find hysterical I didn't laugh once. I didn't even know it was supposed to be funny the characters acted goofy but thats it

I should of rephrased that. Every company is hurting right now, not just scream factory. Why do you think Walmart, Best Buy, & Target barely even carry movies anymore?(no one buys them.) Also, stores like FYE, and some smaller places around me that used to get everything, don't get much now, & then 3 B&N's around here also cut all of their physical media sections in half.

The advent of the internet and ease of access to content has created a society that feels entitled to free entertainment. Nobody wants to pay to watch movies anymore. The only people still paying for movies are us - a small niche that demands high quality content on physical media. Movies are still very popular, as we can see from reports about certain films making $100 million+ dollars the first week, but they're no longer considered profitable past the first week of theatrical release so the studios aren't making movies with long-term profits in mind. This means that home video departments are screwed.

That "entitled society" seems to be especially millennials who don`t know anything else but Netflix. Movies are a pure disposable product to them. When you ask them about 80s or even 90s movies, they have never heard from or seen most of them. Most of these people watch movies on a laptop or ipad.
I know a lot of younger guys from the gym, many don`t even own a TV anymore
They might go to the movie theater every once in a while, mostly for dating purposes, but would never spend money on film otherwise.
Needless to say, I hate that generation
On a side note most girls these days watch nothing but shows. I strongly believe Netflix will be the demise of physical media and will never support it.
At least I hope a niche market like for vinyl will remain for us hardcore collectors.

Most people are satisfied just watching whatever is on cable, Netflix, etc. If a specific movie they want to watch isn’t available at the time, they’ll just find something else to watch.

When we were growing up watching movies was something special it was an event now they are disposable entertainment. A lot of these millennials will never understand the joy of having your favorite films in a personal collection because they don't appreciate the art anymore

I don't disagree but part of it is they just don't understand because they were never in the same situation. It was a big deal just to see a movie on TV (edited and pan and scan to boot!!)

People are very fortunate today in regards to movie collecting, but only people 40 or older can truly understand that....

As Sartre once said, there may be more beautiful times, but this one is ours.

It's easy to get caught up in what we've lost and all that we wish modern film making and collecting could/should be, but it's important to stop every now and then and take a look around at just how good things currently are. We live arguably in the best time to be a film fan in that with the advent of HD media a person can experience films at home in ways directors only dreamed about in the past. We have choices in how we consume our media by streaming, digitally downloading, and purchasing the content we enjoy. We can watch it on our 60" screens for under $700 or our 120"+ screens for under $2000. We have more speakers and surround sound options than most people have space for in their homes and we get to enjoy all that's come before in addition to what's yet to come for a fraction of a cost of past formats. For the first time in history it's arguably cheaper to purchase and own a new release film than it is for 2 people to go see it in a theater.

I despise Netflix and mourn the loss of the video store, but do not lose sight of just how great things are right now. If you spend too much time worrying about the death of physical media, you are likely to miss just how great things still are right now... even without a local rental store and/or the epic experiences of growing up inside one.

Don't worry about there being no-one of this era enjoying films, because I'm the exception.

Would you believe a 16-year old not only has seen the films in my collection, but seeks out to find more to enjoy?

I think Netflix has sort-of created this "disposable" feeling when it comes to films. You pick the film, you watch it, then it's over. Luckily, when collecting these films, we absorb ourselves into the film more, thanks to the special features. It's sad that the physical media outlets are shrinking, but it does somewhat make companies put more effort into their releases to please the consumers as much as possible. We live in the best times to own a film on home video. We have so much out there that we can possibly want in editions of the highest quality for our enjoyment. How cool's that?

I'm 28 so I'm a millennial, but I've been collecting physical media since around 2002 and I still strive to keep up with the insane amount of titles that are being released by companies like Scream/Shout Factory, Kino and the various others. I love film and want to be able to experience them forever and watch them with future generations, I hate Netflix and other streaming services because there's no guarantee they won't disappear one day, it's unlikely now but who knows is 10-20 years. I know people just a few years younger than me that refuse to watch movies from before they were born because they are "old" and therefore not any good. It's sad but true.

It's both a great time and bad time for physical media lovers. Great because of the quality and quantity of the releases, but bad due to the disinterest in physical media by the majority of the public.

I think physical & streaming has its place. I can own movies I really enjoy & will watch again while streaming others. Also Netflix/Hulu/Prime Video has saved me quite a few times from blind buying movies I would have regretted. I've also bought movies that I first saw through streaming that I enjoyed a lot.

25 here and I feel like I grew up just with the tail end of VHS rental stores but lived heavily in the DVD rental stores. I use to go to the local rental shop and rent movies with friends every weekend. It felt like such an event from the walk to the store to the endless selection of movies we've never heard of to the walk back with all the snacks and goodies to eat with our movie!

Its funny that this tradition has followed me into adulthood as I only seem to watch movies on the weekends now and rarely during the week. Something about a movie or two on the day off to look forward to is almost nostalgic to simpler times. Ill even bug all my non horror watching friends by bringing over a few scary movies to watch with a couple beers.

My point is that im very thankful for companies like Shout Factory/Arrow/Vestron/88 Films that give me that bit of nostalgia with watching all the great films they are putting out nowadays. Thank you!

I'm a little confused with all the complaints from ordering from Amazon and apparently paying high prices? Every pre-order I've done thru Amazon.ca has been a Pre-order Price Guarantee! The price of the item decreased after I ordered them, and they gave me the lowest price.

I recently got my order of Wild at Hart which on Amazon was Priced on Pre-order date: $28.98 and then was lowered at shipping: $17.24. Looking on SF they still have it listed at $24.99. I can understand the complaints of not being able to order from whatever discounted website you want too, but Amazon has always been discounted or Priced matched a product for me. Has this not been the case for others???

I don't think millennial is the word you are looking for. I'm 34 years old and supposedly a millennial.
You're probably thinking of Gen Z.

Considering the pricing of ROTLD Part 2 on Amazon, is anyone else worried that the upcoming pre-orders won't drop in price either?
