If Arrow starts using "early delivery" as a marketing gimmick to get pre-orders, even while they know they can't meet the promised delivery date, I'm sure a lot of people will be critical of that, just as they rightly criticize Shout for it.

Whats the difference? A delay is a delay.
The few Arrow releases I purchase have all been delayed. Yet folks seem to take the Arrow delays with a grain of salt.
Methinks most folks just enjoy piling on SF. Perhaps if we dig deep enough we can pin the JFK assassination on SF too.
I guess it’s all a push, because all the up-in-arms folks still spend on SF product. After all these years.

What you are doing is conflating "Shout Factory" the distributor and "Shout Factory" the store, and suggesting that "Arrow" the distributor should be criticized for missing release dates the same way that "Shout Factory" is, while failing to note that the criticism is directed at "Shout Factory" the store, not "Shout Factory" the distributor, for using knowingly false advertising to attract buyers specifically to pre-order from the store.

As for the accusations of bad-faith arguing, don't you find the "You're a Shout hater!"/"You're a Shout defender!" to be a tiring cycle to be caught up in? Embrace the fact that people feel differently than you, that's the human condition.

Fool me once, shame on you
Fool me twice, shame on me

The same people have been complaining, for years. Shouldn’t they be mad at themselves for supporting something they obviously don’t like?

Human condition? Yeah sure. That applies to those that don’t agree with me right? Works both ways?

I've been critical of Shout's recent shenanigans which is why I stopped supporting them. The last SF titles I purchased were the Lifeforce and Army of Darkness steelbook back in August. Candyman was the only must-own title of recent weeks so I went region-free and got the Arrow release instead.

Voting with your wallet is the only thing that a company like Shout notices.

People have been complaining about Shout Factory for years. Is that because:
A) they are all irrational Shout haters committed to complaining about nothing
B) Shout Factory has as bad a reputation for QC as any premium-priced label, lies to customers, and gets movies that collectors definitely want to own inspite of who is distributing them?

Yet they keep returning to the well.
There are plenty of other options out there, clearly better options in most folks opinion. Again, shouldn’t they be mad at themselves?
Vote with your wallet, as the saying goes. Don’t give in to the temptation.

The more I think about this Robert Rodriguez Viente, the more it seems like it will be 20 selections from the Corman library.

The internets say that, so it must be so.
Yep. SF is the new Third Reich who are trying to murder children by charging 5 dollars more for bigger titles than they used to for smaller ones. They also wish to usher in the Apocalypse by releasing movies that aren't cult enough.

But, supply shortages, late/last minute pre-order cancellations through third party retailers, delays, and incorrect framing issues are all fine. And perfect. Those things are exactly as they should be.

For me, part of it is that it's a movie I grew up with and in general, I'm a fan of horror (and other) movies from this time. In general, it's a pretty decent witch movie with all the other 90s influences. If you like the 90s horror movies and also like witch movies it fits right in. Wouldn't say it's "scary", just an entertaining thriller of sorts.

What knowingly false advertising did Shout Factory use?

I mean, I know there was the "ships 2 weeks early!' thing on most of their titles. But, they always used to hit that until the reduction in manufacturing plants. And once it became apparent that was going to have a wider, longer impact on their releases, they stopped advertising that.

The delays still sucked for some of us at first as SF scrambled (and initially failed) to properly communicate updates. But... after TRICK R TREAT/HAUNTED HILL, they started sending much more regular, and open updates regarding "The plant reduction means your title will probably be delayed. It should still make street date, but was apologize, here's a discount code", and again, also removing the claims of early shipping from all pre-order listings.

That's not really the same as "using knowingly false advertising".

**NEW TITLE ANNOUNCEMENT**

The 1993 “Cujo meets Terminator” horror/sci-fi hybrid MAN’S BEST FRIEND barks its way to Blu-ray for the first time on March 12th! Ally Sheedy (X-Men: Apocalypse, The Breakfast Club) and Lance Henriksen (Pumpkinhead, Aliens) star.

When an ambitious news journalist (Sheedy) breaks into a genetic research facility, she uncovers the biggest story of her career and unleashes the lab's most dangerous experiment: Max – a genetically enhanced guard dog with a vicious killer instinct. Superior sight, hearing, strength, and intelligence make him faster, stronger, and smarter than almost any other animal alive – and deadlier. Without the neuropathic drugs needed to curb his aggressive nature, his predatory urge runs out of control ... and once he tastes blood, nothing can stop him.

Extras are in progress and will be announced on a later date.

Pre-order MAN’S BEST FRIEND now @

Artwork you see is the original theatrical poster design. The reverse cover will have the art that most remember from the prior DVD and VHS releases.
