I feel the same way. I've even scaled my SF collection down a great deal, selling titles I've upgraded or decided I no longer needed. Their pricing scam soured the whole model for me. Not to say I'll never get another SF title, but I have no interest in cheap, 50's monster movies, or movies that are already on Blu-ray or were released by a superior label. At one time I picked up everything they released. Glad I've gotten over that.

Something like that...

Has anyone actually been stubborn enough to pass on one of their most wanted titles because of anything? I was never in that boat because I've never had issues through amazon, but just curious.

What are you talking about?! Arrow retails for 40 bucks a pop, Criterion too. Vestron is nearing that every month.... Without Criterion and Arrow sales, people would drop these two companies immediately, there's no way they raise prices "as a sign of the times"... They raised them years ago as the sign.

Yeah that was nothing but nonsense. People gotta stop with the dying physical media excuse.

Hey everyone...

Yesterday, I made another organization upgrade to my Blu-ray collection by creating an entire storage bin devoted to Stephen King titles, horror and non-horror alike.

Stephen King disowned The Lawnmower Man and even sued the filmmakers, because the movie (which I enjoy on its own terms) has jack to do with his short story.

I'm still keeping The Lawnmower Man in my Stephen King section, because of the name association and since I still think of the author every time I think of the movie, but I am curious as to whether all of you would follow this same categorization strategy. Would you keep this movie in a Stephen King section in your Blu-ray collection?

I would for the same reasons. I have my copy with my Scream Factory titles but if I did organize a Stephen King section I would put it there.

Candyman, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation, Urban Legend, House on Haunted Hill, Trick 'r Treat, Silent Night Deadly Night 2, 8MM, Saturday the 14th, and The Mangler are all titles I would have already purchased in the past. If Shout continues with their current business practices I guess I'll just have to do without them.

I’m in the same boat, by the end of first quarter 2019, I’ll easily be in the double digits for titles I would have likely purchased on or near release date. I did get Valley Girl, Critters and Trick r’ Treat over the last few months, but that was just because I locked in pricing way back during comic con. For me, the issue is pricing, as typically notable quality issues with discs are replaced to my personal satisfaction. There’s just too many quality Arrow and Criterion titles available at reasonable price points to spend a premium on Scream titles. I’ve essentially shifted the money I would have spent with Scream over the last few months to Criterion and Arrow via the Barnes and Noble sales.

The Return of the Living Dead Part II, Exorcist II: The Heretic, The [REC] Collection, House on Haunted Hill, Trick 'r Treat, Creepshow, Night of the Demons, Sleepwalkers, Urban Legend, Critters Collection, Silent Night, Deadly Night Part 2, The Mangler, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation.

And those are just collector's editions and a couple collections. There are about 15 other "regular" releases I would have gladly picked up, buuuuuut...

Mama's not dropping $35 on a CE and $28 on a regular edition. Lmfao. The whole pricing situation is so ridiculous! Almost as ridiculous as the few people who keep praising them and their terrible business decisions. I completely understand raising your prices... a dollar, two, maybe three! But ten dollars? Haha!

I'm single, with no kids, and I make $28 an hour. Some might say I have a rather disposable income. Raising your prices + terrible customer service + unbelievable quality control issues + deleting negative comments on social media and blocking said commenters = boycott from this customer.

Why am I still here? Why am I still complaining? Well, I do still love the movies and I don't hate the company. I want Shout! to succeed, but they have to get their head out of their ass first. I hope people still complain all the livelong day. I know there are SF lurkers here, reading these comments.

Get your s**t together, Shout!

I better stop my rant now, before BigTexas77 responds with a crying emoji and tells me to quit whining about first world problems.

Oh, wait... I blocked him

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To each their own I guess. Especially when people mention great sets like the Critters collection. Thought this was a great set that was reasonably priced for 4 movies. Not worth passing up in my eyes!

Was just curious how many people were following through on their word to stop supporting all together.

That actually was a great price on Amazon for a hot second. I had it preordered and locked in at $41 or $42, but cancelled at the last second. They don't deserve my money right now. There are many other companies far more deserving.

I know some people here say that, but I feel like many, many more here just want to get these titles at a reasonable price.

I've been pretty vocal about Shout's last four months of price hikes, damaged merchandise, bad customer service, and inability to meet release dates--but I'm not swearing them off. They have too many titles I want. I buy what I can and will wait on the rest.

It's really cute the way that all Shout defenders think they live in a wonderful world where the only people who complain are lunatics who swear an eternal blood-boycott and then secretly pre-order everything because they are liars who just enjoy complaining on the Internet. I'm really curious what it is that Shout does to engender such deep loyalty -- it sure isn't the pricing or the customer service.

it's not deep loyalty, it's blu ray/film collectors that want movies for their collection. Why is that controversial?

This outrage around here is just like everything else these days....

The bottom line is that people will keep buying these titles-- maybe not "day one" or pre-ordering from Scream's website (which I've never done).. but they will buy titles they want.

I've bought several Scream titles recently... all of them under twenty bucks.. and I fully believe that I will continue to get what I want for that price point...
