Some of the recent price reductions via Amazon have been amazing. I was able to fill in a ton of back catalogue stuff that way, but it's a shame that we can get back to where stuff was right around $20.
I'm not looking at a set price however I want the market to determine what the best price is. I used the Barnes and Noble sale to stock up. I also used Hamilton Books to stock up on the old Universal movies. I will wait for the next sale to get the Hammer titles if possible. If not, then I'll live with the DVDs.

I haven't bought too many movies from Barnes & Noble. Do they have an annual sale specifically for Shout/Scream titles or are you guys talking about a general Blu-ray sale they have?

So it's the beginning of a new month, are we getting new announcements? Looking forward to more news on further Paramount titles and updates on the ones already announced. Hoping to get past the endless Hammer and 50's sci-fi phase with some 70's and 80's goodness.

Don't expect too much. We already know the following titles are set for December (unless delayed):

Silver Bullet CE
Big Trouble in Little China CE
Dr Jekyll and Sister Hyde
Universal Horror Collection Vol. 3
The Fly Collection

So that's 5 titles - including 2 box sets - in a month offering shorter release windows than most. That said, on the Shockwaves podcast they did say there might be one or two additions to the December line-up. Given that slate I'm not expecting these to be major additions (another StudioCanal Hammer title could be one), though we'll wait and see. I wouldn't be surprised to see something in the provisional slate delayed until the new year.

While talking about Paramount titles on that podcast, they mentioned that the next big announcement would likely be made on Halloween. I don't know if this statement was in relation to that deal specifically (I think it was) or just in general. But it should be noted that we only know 2 titles for January as things stand - Let's Scare Jessica to Death and Body Parts - so we can surely expect at least another 3-4 in addition to those. And the January line-up will be announced in very late September/early October (more likely the latter), so we will definitely get a glut of announcements before Halloween. But I guess based on what Jeff said we shouldn't expect any major Paramount titles (and perhaps major titles in general) among them. Yet on the Paramount front this could still leave room for the likes of Orca, Bug, some 50s/60s titles, and lots of other stuff really.

As for the Halloween announcement(s), well it would make the most sense if they unveiled the remnants of the February line-up then (at this stage we only know of My Bloody Valentine and Pet Sematary 2), as these should be revealed by early November at the latest, but I'm wondering if they might also drop one or two announcements for March and beyond, specifically April Fool's Day, which would surely be released in mid-to-late March. This would make sense given the aforementioned tease of a big Paramount title announcement at the end of October.

Hope we get the announcements this week and there is at least one surprise in there.

Also hoping that post February one of their titles is the Dead Zone. Really hoping for that.

I'm really surprised how underrated The Dead Zone is. It's one of Cronenberg's best and one of the best Stephen King film adaptions but it's rarely talked about. Maybe the lack of gore from a Cronenberg film?

It's a terrific film... the top tier of King movies, Walken movies, Cronenberg movies, etc etc.

I think it has lots of fans, perhaps it's not talked about as much because it's not as gruesome as you mentioned...

Yeah, it's such a good movie. My personal favorite Cronenenberg film period. I wish it had more fans, and hopefully a new release might be able to do that. Also, would love to hear Walken talk about the film.

Also really like The Dead Zone. The Dead Zone, Carrie and The Shining are the top 3 early king adaptions, until Stand By Me Came along.

Dead Zone Spoiler:

Great movie, but
[Show spoiler]the baby human shield at the end is pretty ridiculous both visually and as a plot device. He should have just shot Martin Sheen.

Well,
[Show spoiler]I thought it was a pretty good moment. He wasn't a marksman by any means and even misses his first shot. It really showed how filthy Martin's Sheens character was. Plus, it was in the book as well.

Wasn't there a region free Blu-Ray release in Australia? As for the film itself, I haven't seen it yet. Still reading the book.

There is, but I wouldn't mind a Scream Factory release with all the bells and whistles. Or an Arrow!

Do we know yet what will be included in the Universal Horror Collection Vol. 3? I'm assuming it's probably some of the stuff from the 1930s and 1940s. But wouldn't it be awesome if Curse of the Undead and The Thing That Couldn't Die were included?

Now that the Paramount vaults are apparently open, what are the odds of a version of The Keep that Director Mann may be happy with? Mann is unhappy about something, so maybe he can put together a version he likes. Maybe Shout can accomplish what Kino couldn't
