See nothing fishy here. Most of these titles have long ago stopped selling especially from the shout Factory site and there's no incentive to license them again.
It's true they're using Facebook and these threads to sell a bunch at a time but there's nothing wrong with that regardless of how many units they still have. Many a collector in the past has experienced the attitude of I'll get this later to suddenly see it going for $40 on Ebay. I'm glad Shout does this giving us the heads up on titles they know are out of print. |

Received "The Blob" + "Private School" yesterday. Glad to see that Shout is using Elite blu ray cases again.

So who's the wunderkind that got a job at Paramount and has convinced the powers that be to open the vaults? I hope he/she stays there for a good while. |

I took a shot the other day and ordered the Carrie/Carrie II combo on amazon a few days ago. Today I got an update email saying it will be here next thurday. So anyone wanting it , you can probably still get one from them.

If you get a copy of MURDERS IN THE RUE MORGUE/DUNWHICH HORROR, be sure to check it. I had to have Shout replace it, because it froze up before the end of MURDERS. If you get a problem disc, you'll want to request a replacement while they're still available.

Having a few of my films released by companies on this forum, I can tell you the majority of sales happen the first month of release. Most people dont wait for sales and such. The royalties over the term a film is licensed dwindle to almost nothing the last year. Everything goes out of print and most people will only find out that a title they are procrastinating on getting has tripled in price because it's oop. I think most people would be happy to find out ahead of time.

We tend to forget that these companies cater to a niche market. The average person does not care about or has even heard of Blacula or Hammer or Mario Bava. If we are not buying these titles, then they are going to languish in a warehouse, taking up space that could be allocated to newer, better selling titles.

I'll also chime in and say that I really appreciate the approach SCREAM has taken to these impending oop titles. Generally with boutique labels, us fans don't find out about these oop statuses until its already a done deal, resulting in one mad fury to buy the remaining stock before they are gone for good (and priced through the roof on the secondary market.) Like someone previously said, Scream giving us a heads up allows everyone who may want a copy of one of these titles time to procure it at a reasonable cost. If it results in Scream boosting sales, then good for them! That makes it a win-win situation. They are not forcing anyone to buy anything!
