I ordered Land of the Dead from Amazon this past week and it came with the slipcover. That was a release from 2017 so I think you're good.

Slipcovers are guaranteed for the first 3 months from release. After that it's a crap shoot. As Thirteen Ghosts was just released you're guaranteed a slipcover.


On an unrelated note I went ahead and bit the bullet tonight on a copy of Pumpkinhead 4: Blood Feud on DVD, thus concluding my Franchise collection of Pumpkin head films... which means Scream Factory can announce a barebones double feature of parts 3 and 4 now for November.

No offense to those that enjoy slip overs but besides protection what is the point of them if they are identical to the front cover of the blue ray case..

When Scream Factory includes a slipcover, the front cover artwork is usually reversible with the original theatrical artwork on the opposite side.

It may depend on the popularity of the title you want. Land of the Dead probably didn't sell like gangbusters so there would still be plenty of copies left with slips out there. 13 Ghosts is a new release so chances of scoring a slip are still very good but don't wait too long on that one.

Slipcovers are guaranteed for the first 3 months and then all bets are off unless it’s not a big seller. I’ve recently purchased Dawn & Land of the Dead from SF and they both came with slips (both released in 2017). They weren’t big sellers.

Slipcovers were originally conceived as a way to catch the eye of the consumer in a crowded movie aisle as they were different from the normal blue/black cases every other movie had. Now they are a collectible part of the physical packaging. Your movie plays just as well without one, but your "total package" isn't complete if you dont have it. For the more obsessive fans that feel like something is missing if they don't have everything that was available upon release they are a big deal... much like Arrows booklets would be.

It's a fair question. Admittedly, slip covers are a marketing ploy to get customers to notice releases on store shelves. Now that most of us hardly go out to buy anything, and since retailers are also cutting back, the point of these slip covers is really no more than a collector's ADD.

I've always liked those few releases that take a chance and put something DIFFERENT on the slip cover than the same darn art as the bluray cover. Those are few and far between, but every now and then when I see one, I give it kudos by picking it up.

Most things collectors do don't have a "point", per se.

Ex: Someone blew $114,000 on a new / sealed copy of Super Mario Bros., last month. An original, playable NES cartridge without all the packaging and cellophane is worth... maybe $10? Think about that. Someone paid a $113,990 premium for packaging and cellophane.

No offense taken. For me, it's not about protection, considering I store most of my "boutique label" stuff in clear sleeves & cases in order to protect the actual slipcovers. I also use them for decoration on the shelves and other areas in the HT, and for that purpose full size slips just look a lot better than amaray cases with the smaller cover art. Many of them also feature embossing, textures and spot gloss that makes for a really nice effect in proper lighting. Kinda like mini posters, if you will.

It just looks nicer on the shelf with it being a collectible item and all. I care more about them than I used to, unfortunately.

But i agree with you to a degree because they are easily damaged and often have unimaginative cover art so it's kinda hard to justify getting to worked up over them.

On his ebay page he states they are custom made and not offical. If buyers cant read or take the time to its their fault since he explained what they are clearly.
