I talked to Amazon about this once and they said if they are advertising it as an o-ring edition (usually found under the title), then it is with slip. They do not guarantee third party sellers or fulfillment centers that are not them.

If someone disagree and think is great, well good for you but to me are just crap that worth $0 and in some way affect the labels, also confuse collectors that can ending paying money for something that they think is original. I just say.

If he was selling on Etsy instead, would you still have an issue with it? He specified they are custom, not original.

Most of my old Corman discs from Shout are sitting on my shelf unwatched and it's because I'm reluctant to sit through DVD quality. Tons of movies, most are double features. I plan on picking up any Blu-rays Shout releases of the Corman titles.

Occasionally. The most recent example is The Vincent Price Collection I which went OOP a few years ago, but is now being re-released this September minus some extras but added others. Usually, though, titles that have gone OOP it's because SF no longer has the rights. So sometimes another label may acquire the rights, sooner or later.

I personally don't have an interest in getting custom slipcovers, but to the seller's credit, he's not trying to pass them off as original. He explicitly says that they're not the original slipcovers, and goes so far as to list differences between his and the originals. If he were trying to pass them off as the originals, I'd have much more of an issue. But in this case, anyone that gets "burned" clearly didn't do anything but look at the picture and place a bid, and that's on them.

If SF let the rights lapse, I imagine it's because they didn't feel it was worthwhile for them to spend money to renew the license. So I don't see it going back in print again from them.

I skipped Sleepwalkers because I'm not too keen on the film but I might grab that upcoming Eureka disc. Love that slipbox they came up with. It's amazing how packaging design can sway a purchasing decision one way or another. Might do the same with 976-Evil but I actually like what Sony came up with.

Thanks for the response. So it seems like oop titles will be very hard to find for reasonable prices or wait for another label to pick up the titles which could take a very long time.

From what I've heard, it's missing a few seconds of gore, but as I've never seen the film before, it doesn't bother me so much. I'm just happy to have another Hammer Frankenstein movie in my collection.

So it looks like Scream will have a couple of titles from November to announce next week, but it honestly sounds like it might only be two titles or so.

Either way, that's better than nothing, and hopefully the Dead Zone is one of them.

Come on Corman Collection... Let's see Sorority House Massacre II.

Edit: If I'm being honest I wouldn't mind seeing more Bare Bones double features or first time to Blu in the US releases as well since getting bonus features finished appears to be a problem for the short term. My previous post joking about Pumpkinhead 3/4 certain would fit that bill (I'd only ask that they each be given their own disc if at all possible... Slap the film, the trailer, and any Sci-Fi channel EPK stuff available on each disc and all it a day and I'd be happy.) Otherwise although I know Shot is reluctant to go down this rabbit hole, I'd still love to see them bring Martyrs to the US, or perhaps some of the French Extreme stuff that has had a release elsewhere as well. There are enough of those features still out there that I simply porting over to release without any new updates would still likely sell well. (Irreversible, Inside, Martyrs, etc).

As for my November predictions...

rights issues maybe? i know shout has said that foreign releases don’t sell as much.

inside was put out on the dimension extreme label on dvd. irreversible, like a lot of noe’s work, i don’t think has made it to blu. climax has a bd-r. love had a 3D release in region b, but the company that was going to put it out on blu in the us went under. i know irreversible was put on on dvd, but i can’t remember who the distributor was. lions gate maybe?

If Shout does few else besides the F13th set and the two steels the rest of the year, I'll be very happy with basic upgrades of old Corman DVDs. Don't need bells and whistles - just give me good, clean scans.

The hardcore French stuff is sorely lacking on BD. I was looking for a Blu-ray of another great French thriller, Them (ils), and was horrified to discover nothing acceptable exists. What's wrong with American labels?

Weren't the Ring films just released by Arrow?
