Yeah it looks like there's some new commentary tracks added. Plus, it does look like there are new introductions by film historians (instead of Vincent Price himself). So, if you like commentary tracks then you're getting some new material...plus I think there's a new cut of Masque Of Red Death included as well (somebody correct me if I'm wrong).

Yes, there's a new cut of Red Death and it is also being released separately as a stand alone release for those that don't want to rebuy the whole set, especially if you already had the first release.

I have all of these collections (minus Volume 5) and they all have an official slip that comes with the set!

Thanks!! I ended up shooting them a quick message to ask as well~they said the same thing! Now I'm not sure if I should start buying now, or wait for a possible Shocktober type sale...

While Shout grapples with the dilemma over releasing more Hammer and vintage stuff versus more contemporary fare, I decided not to sit around and wait for them to release Deadly Friend and grabbed the Spanish Blu. I don't care if its mediocre - it's on Blu-ray. Half-jokingly I typed in "He Knows You're Alone" to see if they had it lol. Also grabbed The 1992 boxing film The Gladiator and True Lies. Spain is going to save the day

as has been mentioned, childs play is going out of print. but they still have slipcover versions available through the shout store.

with slip overs only being guaranteed for three months, it’s really surprising it didn’t sell out a long time ago.

I want to pick-up some of those IFC films that are going out of print but I'm stuck between three of them. I've read the synopsis and looking for opinions on any of these films.

Submerged
Dementia
Kaleidoscope

Anyone have any opinions on those films?

Imo, it's all a bunch of bs. I ordered Carrie on August 5th and Slither in early July (from Shout) and received both with the slip. I still see people getting the slip for Trick 'R Treat and The Blob, too. Either this means the majority of people don't shop at Shout or there are a whole lot more slipcovers than we're led to believe there are.

i personally do not care about slipcovers. but some people get way too excited.

i think that is possible that people weren’t buying from shout, in addition to there being a lot of other versions of the release available. (the main one being the box set)

Kalidascope I traded off to the dvd reseller. Same with Dementia. Submerged I did not see yet but own. There were very few good ones in that oop sale awhile back. Dementia was actually ok, but lost it in the last half hour. I believe it was a case of so dark might as well be listening to a radio show. But the rest of it was good. The Boy is still up if you haven't seen that, not sure if it was IFC but their kinda movie. And the Sacrifice was well done. Stay away from Tank, Narcopolous, Dark Summer.

There is no such thing as being way too excited about something you really enjoy. Slipcovers provide an extra layer of cool artwork and, to many of us, a much nicer aesthetic than the boring old blue cases. This is why they have collectors value, and why they are so sought after. It's exactly the same as steelbooks and first-press South Korean releases, for instance. Yes, you can get different versions but they definitely don't look as good.

I just think that there are many more of these slipcovers than people (me included) often think there are, and this obviously works in favor of just about every Blu-ray label out there.

You must have gotten lucky, or the last one... my copy of CARRIE was ordered from SHOUT right after yours but just came in shrink wrap and no slipcover...

Many are, yes, but the titles I've picked up all look very decent and are the only (pseudo) HD editions available worldwide - until the studios release "legit" HD editions of these films, the "boots" will more than suffice for me. I've also picked up two of my favorite Steven Seagal flicks unavailable in the US: Fire Down Below and On Deadly Ground. We need a kickass Seagal collection already.

On another note, I ordered Tales From the Darkside and Deathsport from Shout on 8/15 and they still have not shipped. Last time I order anything that's not exclusive direct from them

I only care about SF slipcovers because their custom art is always great, but I like to reverse the insert to show the original poster on the disc case.

....except for "Phantom of the Paradise"; the original poster is awful, but the SF art is excellent.
