I've purchased multiple 3 disc cases to include a DVD, Blu, and now 4k version of each title I upgrade.

The writing was on the wall as far as most titles getting Blu Ray releases and so I was trying to sell what I could at 3 for $10 prices. I used those funds to in turn purchase new Blu Rays. For the next 7 years or so I never really looked back. Then as the Blu Ray collection grew and more and more obscure horror titles came onto my radar I realized that DVD's still very much belonged in my collection and I began picking up titles that were DVD only here and there... (stuff like Dee Snider's Strangeland, Sorority House Massacre II, Rock N Roll Nightmare, etc). Jump to 2020 and thanks to Dollar Tree my DVD buying is now at a level that it hasn't been since 2005/2006. At $1 a pop I'm grabbing pretty much every horror dvd that I don't own that Dollar Tree offers. Add in some generous friends over the last few years and I've once again added several hundred dvd's back into the collection.

Where as before the goal was to get rid of DVD entirely and have a collection exclusively of Blu Ray movies, now the goal is to simply obtain as many of these mostly forgotten films as I can, in the best format available, so that I have plenty to enjoy for now and forever. Even now some DVD's I purchased recently continue to be upgraded as I find deals on the Blu Ray.. (more than a few of those Dollar Tree DVD's ended up getting double dipped on when the Blu Ray turned up at a later date, but for $2 I really don't care).

People change, priorities change, and most importantly, prices change. If things hit certain price points I'm more than happy to go all in on any format including 4k and so I have no doubt that at some point my 4k collection will explode, but until we start seeing $5 - $15 4k's regularly I'm typically more than happy with the cheaper Blu Ray equivalent (unless of course the 4k offers a significant benefit as was the case for the earlier mentioned American Psycho and Mission Impossible films).
This is pretty much how I see it and what I've done, too. I still marvel at how good blu-rays look on my set-up. I'm eventually going to get a 4k player since I have an older player that won't last forever and I'll immediately go pick up the UHD of Jaws. I've seen it so many times and love it so much that I'm beyond intimately familiar with it and if it can look any better then I have to see it that way. But by and large, I'm still impressed with what I've got. I just showed my daughter the '31 Dracula the other night and I don't doubt folks will think it could look better, but I'm not sure I need it to. It's still pretty astounding to me.

I love a lot of titles that have been released on the new format including They Live but it's just not that necessary for it to look better than the one I have does to me.

I don't understand this wording. If those are the only copies Shout has left, isn't the release already OOP? What does the date indicate? Are they going to make one last pressing that will come in around that time? Then why are the numbers of remaining copies relevant?

Their license runs out for those titles on the 15th. After that date even if they have 1000 units left they aren't allowed to sell them any more and will likely be destroyed. The numbers are there to give people an idea how many copies are left as at least a few of them will likely sell out before the 15th and when they're gone... they're gone forever.

I'm sure they also wholesale large quantities to the likes of HB and other wholesale buyers day or two before the expiration date.

I still remember all the exciting releases coming out uncut for the very first time from Anchor Bay. Image was releasing a lot of them too. Now they’re but shells of their former selves

I don't know how they're landing partnerships left and right when they have the slowest shipping and worst CS I've encountered in years.

I'll agree that shipping can be crazy slow when stuff is on backorder (Still waiting on 2 blus from CC) but I've never had any problems with their CS, I've emailed and called and they were very helpful and prompt dealing with the issues....

Same.
I emailed and they were friendly.

Waiting on a leftover backordered CC title and my VS order (!)

Many people have had to wait quite a while to get an email reply. Main gripe I have with them is the ridiculous shipping time. Even when I bought a regular Arrow blu, not even on sale, it took a month to ship. I find that laughable. And honestly I would love to encourage them as they are a Canadian company but it's faster to import stuff from Europe than to buy from them and they're 5 hours away.

Speaking only for myself but I've never had that issue with shipping taking that long on a new release (I'm on the west coast) usually after I get a shipping notice the package arrives within a week or within 10 days. I've only waited more then a month when the Blu is "backorder" which isn't their fault but the Blu company sending them the stock.
If your not getting a prompt email about the order, I suggest just calling them up! That way you know exactly whats going on with your order.
