I hope they aim for Spider and M. Butterfly! But I could see M. Butterfly getting a Warner Archive release.

More Cronenberg is good for all!
And I'm cool with anyone getting to M. Butterfly, as long as it's released. Not sure if it's in WAC's sights.
Existenz needs a new release too, so I vote Scream for that too.

Yeah, I wonder why they wait so long to announce titles now. You would think they would want to do it before they leak.

So is everyone in the Mid Atlantic and Southern regions still waiting for a shipping notification?

So today I finally had a chance to sneak away from work and walk to a local Mom and Pop second hand video game/movie store that is located near my work. It's the first time I've been there in 2020 as the parking by the building is terrible so I generally do not drive there and instead prefer to walk when work allows. During most years I tend to stop by every quarter or so as the store is 100% pre-owned items so movie inventory generally doesn't change much and more often than not anything remotely unique that comes through the doors they look up the value for online and then over price it in store. Typically I have the most success with mainstream titles that have gone out of print but they never caught wind of. A few years back I picked up the Short Circuit double feature for example, and today I broke down and finally purchased the old 2011 Echo bridge Dracula 2000/Dracula II/Dracula III/They quadruple feature disc which to the best of my knowledge hasn't ever been repressed since going out of print. During colder months I don't like to make the walk and thanks to Covid this year I was working from home from March - August and so this was the first chance to venture over.

As I got back to my office it did get me thinking... this is a 4 film Wes Craven presents set. This particular release hasn't been re-released since Echo Bridge released it. It was generally speaking not that great of a release thanks to the decision to pack 4 films onto a single disc. As the Miramax library is now with Paramount I couldn't help but wonder if Shout Factory would have any interest in a box set? It seems (to me) that Dracula 2000/Dracula II Ascension/Dracula III Legacy would make for a pretty easy release for the company as even as a basic set without the bells and whistles of a collectors edition, it'd still make for a nice upgrade for the franchise. "They" of course would also make for an interesting release should they so desire.

I'm really not much of a fan of any of the film's but for the $7 I spent I feel pretty good about my purchase and look forward to revisiting Dracula 2000 and They and watching Dracula II and III at some point in the future.

With so much uncertainty about regarding the future of Scream Factory's releases and the direction they may go, these titles appear to be very real possibilities... (and would make for a nice accompaniment to the much requested NOES collectors set).

They could be... But I bet they'd have to get new masters from Miramax who ultimately has the say if a film gets redone... That's why we never saw new transfers when Lionsgate took over the titles controlled by Echo Bridge... Plus never got one 4K Miramax title from Lionsgate when they still had distribution of library.

Perhaps no one, which is why Lionsgate didn't bother to repress the discs and Paramount to the best of my knowledge only reprinted the double feature... but then again Vinegar Syndrome, Dark Forces, Code Red, and Severin have made successful businesses out of releasing crap and folks continue to lap that up so who knows.

Keeping out of the discussion thread for the Friday the 13th boxset, because of how off-topic and bonkers it gets. And this thread is more slower-paced with less pages to go through before you're up to date.

Looking forward to getting my copy of the boxset. Did see a Facebook post earlier by that page for the slasher horror book which has still not been published yet (as far as I'm aware), about the extra gore footage from Part 2.

Would you "feel pretty good" about paying Scream Factory prices for a Dracula 2000 collection ($30.00 - $40.00) and/or a They standalone release ($20.00 - $30.00)?

I’d buy a collection of the Dracula 2000 films from SF

I'm not arguing the films merits or that this is the direction they should go, but if a 3 film dracula 2000 collection was released for 29.99 ala It's alive I'd probably purchase it.

I could name 100 other films I'd be more excited for, but seeing as how we are at a point where I have no idea what direction Scream factory is going to go in, I figured I'd mention this apparently very disliked, idea.

I'd pay "Scream Factory prices" for a standalone copy of THEY. Or Phantoms. Or The Hole. Or Below. Or individual release collections of the Children of the Corn or Hellraiser series. Most of these movies are far from masterpieces but they are fun popcorn entertainment and worthy of better treatment IMO.

Went to Best Buy earlier today and managed to buy CANDYMAN and THE OMEN - Deluxe Collection. Former for only $9.99 and the latter I pricematched with Walmart for only $39.96 instead of Best Buy's floor price of $44.99. Wasn't expecting at-all to buy the boxset and now I can finally sell
[Show spoiler]
. Yep, I know perfectly well I won't get much money for that but I didn't pay that much when I bought it.
Also saw The Fly Collection there but I've only seen two out of the five films. The Fly 1958 and The Fly 1986. Was less of a big want compared to The Omen Collection, obviously. Have never watched The Fly II either. Might give it an eventual purchase.

With my Friday the 13th collection arriving today I figured it was time to open my other boxset. I wasn't in a "classic" horror mood so I rewatched The Fly (1986) and watched The Fly II for the first time.

Of course the Cronenberg film is a classic drama/body horror film with a small cast. I forgot how much I liked this film, though I wouldn't put it in his top tier.

The Fly II is even more of a sci-fi drama, until it goes batshit at the end... enjoyable but not something I see myself revisiting much.
