People who work at shout/scream factory said they tried to get the rights to the nightmare on elm street films but Warner bros won’t give the rights to it because it’s a quote on quote active franchise just when you couldn’t hate Warner bros enough already.

It'll take a few years but eventually Warner will relent and let Shout have the series. The Child's Play sequels suffered the same predicament. Anything excepting big A-list titles like Wizard Of Oz, GWTW, etc., is pretty much on the table these days. I predict we'll see an Elm St. collection within 2 years.

Shout! Would, it’s Lionsgate who is the problem, not sure exactly why they like to sit on properties and not make a profit on them. They have a lot of titles streaming that are HD however they refuse to put them on discs or license them. They also have lost rights to titles over time that they could of made a profit on. Now they go and buy the Weinstein library and they are not doing anything with it. Paramount in the other hand they bought 49% of Miramax and they are making the titles available.

Good news is that Shout is still releasing Warner Bros properties. (A Walk to Remember) The bad news is that we still don't have Suburban Commando.

If Cliff did indeed state we can expect more new to Blu-ray stuff in 2023 in that Instagram Q&A, I'm wondering if it's because the issues with Warner Bros (as evident by Warner Archive's rather paltry slate this year) are soon to be resolved (conversely, Warner Archive promising a more bountiful 2023 is obviously a clear indication of this).

Oh, did he mention there will be a lot more new to Blu-ray? That's great if true. I think WAC is aiming for about 50 releases in 2023 so that's great. Hopefully Shout will give us some more of the missing horror/thriller titles in 2023. It also sounds like HBO titles might be coming from WAC, so hopefully that could work for Shout as well, as I would love to see Ricochet get a Blu-ray. Also really hoping we finally get Telefon.

I haven't watched the Q&A, but this was mentioned a few pages back:

Well, that's good news if true. Still a ton of titles from Paramount and WB that need releases for sure. I really hope they can finally break Lionsgate down or even Netflix for some modern films.

You must be closer to where they ship.

I ordered like $500 worth of stuff in August with their 30% off sale and I never got an item earlier than a week later if it was in stock and a week after it was newly released after I placed a pre-order.

I’m in California.

Slow as molasses, but worth it for the $150+ I saved.

I can recommend using a re-shipper like stackry.com. Shout Factory ships free inside the US if you purchase for more than $50. Then you just need to pay postage to your country and (since you are in the EU) your local taxes and whatever handling fee the courier charges.

Of course you have to do a bit of math to figure out how much you have to order for before the savings outweigh the extra charges using a re-shipper.

Got my (first?) sales order in:

I have been waiting for years looking for a decent price on the Universal Horror Collection. I finally caved and ordered the first two in the SF box set sale back in July because I figured they were probably never going to get lower than the $42 SF that SF charged then. Boy, do I feel stupid now ...

Oh well, at least I can get the rest of them cheap.

I also had to drop a few of the items I had in my basket (The Deadly Mantis and The Body Snatcher), as they had apparently sold out at the cheaper sale price and had reverted back to the normal price again. I totally blame you guys!

I might sneak in another small order before the sale ends. It really depends on how much I spend at Indicator's sale, which presumably is coming this week.

Got my shipping notice for RotLD! Very excited. I'm heading to a horror con in a couple of weeks that is having a RotLD mini-reunion, and I was thinking this SF poster would be the perfect size (I am really running out of wall space for full-sized one sheets). Hopefully it's in good shape. Of course, I'm excited about the movie as well. It's crazy how much amazing stuff has been hitting lately.

Excellent selection! I have all of these except for Lady in a Cage which I need to pick up at some point.

There's a little more too it. In 2019 the rights to the original movie were reverted back to the Wes Craven estate. It was them that didn't want to liscence, Shout likely didn't want to make a set without the first movie. Last I heard, the Craven estate was entertaining pitches for future projects.

Warner still owns the original movie, Cravens estate regained the rights to make future films. Someone from scream said they've tried and Warner won't license them out. They even posted about it on their Facebook page when they were posting about their anniversary recently.

I’m not too thrilled with paramount they have three of Kevin smith’s films and refused to upgrade them which is clerks chasing Amy and jay and silent bob strike back these are classic Kevin smith films and before you say clerks wouldn’t benefit from a uhd blu ray Texas chainsaw massacre and evil dead would beg to differ. also they release 48 hours and another 48 hours on uhd this year but only release Addams family and Wayne’s world but not Addams family values and Wayne’s world 2. they are also releasing the Beverly Hills cop movies on uhd in a weird schedule on uhd blu ray too.
