I watched my copy over the weekend. Damn good movie and wish it had gotten more promotion for this release.

Thank You All!!! Never knew about this. Just placed my first order. Now getting that slipless "Return of the Living Dead" UHD doesn't feel so bad.

Ordered a good amount of stuff including titles that I decided to add into my order mostly horror obviously. I only decided to do one order that’s it so no second order for me, but there’s some pretty underrated titles in this list including a few recommendations from Blu-Ray YouTubers so some really good stuff here plus some great classics too.

My order
They Live 4K plus Blu-Ray I finally gave in and bought this it’s about time I finally own this in my collection.
Vincent Price Collection Volume 1 Let’s goooo
The Town that Dreaded Sundown
Nomads
Bad Dreams/Visiting Hours
Assault on Precinct 13
Body Parts
Escape From New York 4K plus Blu-Ray
Dark Angel Blu-Ray
That’s everything I was going to get the Fog, but then realized I find the Fog incredibly overrated, and super boring so I didn’t pick it up. I might need to give it a rewatch at some point, and see if my feelings have changed on this title they probably haven’t, but that doesn’t mean I won’t try to rewatch it again. Also if I get this order super early then I might be adding some of these titles to my horror watchlist for October, which is really exciting.

I guess I might need to rewatch it at some point I haven’t seen the film in a number of years as the last time I watched it was on the AMC tv channel.

In their golden era, I used to purchase almost everything scream factory put out (minus the modern films, of course). But a few years back they shifted their model to focus more on 4k upgrades of previous releases, and a heavier emphasis on more recent films, neither of which I have any interest in. They also seemed to largely cease the practice of using newly commissioned artwork for their slipcovers, instead just replicating the sleeve art, which seems mostly to be the standard theatrical art. In the last few years the only releases I've picked up were Child's Play 2 and 3, Dead Silence, Night of the Demons 2 and 3, and The Haunting of Julia. Quite a change from 4 or 5 years ago when it seemed like I was pre-ordering 1 or 2 new releases from them every month.

Earlier this year they released Funeral Home and Thinner, 2 releases that I was genuinely interested in, releases that would have felt right at home beside announcements of Return of the Living Dead Part 2 or Deadly Friend. I finally got around to ordering them last week (surprisingly, both arrived with slipcovers, which I hadn't expected). I'm glad to have them, and it was a nice throwback to better days as far as this label is concerned. I see they've gone the route of the full-on eco-case, though, with the flimsy little recycling sign cut out of the plastic. So I guess you never really can go back.

I think most prefer their use of original poster art for their 4K releases over commissioned art.

I wonder who has the rights to Pandorum? I really want that in 4k, it's one of my favorite sci fi horror movies up there with Event Horizon. Very underrated imo.

I'm also a big fan of Pandorum. One of the few (and rare) modern sci-fi films that is actually great and probably severely underseen. I wasn't satisfied with the generic domestic Blu-ray so I scoured the globe for a better edition and found a nice South Korean Blu with a slipcase. It's still just a Blu-ray. This needs a 4K. Wasn't it an Anchor Bay production?

I'm not certain what you mean by "taking advantage of a business." Using these forums, and Reddit, and TrustPilot, as pools of information, it's overwhelmingly clear that Shout!'s customer service is under constant barrage by customers wanting replacements for damaged packaging and/or scratched discs. This isn't coincidental, but rather a natural response to Shout!'s inability to ship their product in appropriately sized boxes (they argue tirelessly on TrustPilot that thin bubble mailers provide adequate protection), or to even acknowledge that they habitually ship out scratched discs (let alone take steps to actually rectify the core issue). Rather than making any effort to improve such fundamental aspects of their operation, they instead innovate by removing the plastic caps from poster tubes (resulting, inevitably, in complaints about damaged posters), and by charging for adequate customer service via Route.

Ultimately, it seems that Shout! would rather outsource customer service to Route (given that they advise anyone on TrustPilot dissatisfied with their in-house customer service to instead pay for Route in future transactions), and have seemingly come to resent their customers for 1) being reasonably dissatisfied with several facets of Shout!'s quality control, and 2) holding Shout! to the same standard as other boutique labels with proprietary storefronts.
Oh, I don't buy Shout movies anymore, I buy the international version of said film if available. I was told to kick rocks for one of my purchases from Amazon that had scratches from hub to edge, ridiculous people are paying MSRP for scratched product. Basically I need to inspect ever disc that comes in by their logic because this clearly isn't coming from the Mexico plant. Other boutique labels may have issues, but no where near as bad as the customer service I've received from them...

I prefer the commissioned art generally. The nice thing was that the blu-rays had commissioned art on one side and poster art on the reverse. So we could choose which one we wanted to use. Now it's poster art only so we get less than before.

Yeah, I do wish there was at least reversible art in some instances where commissioned art is available.

Got my sale order in today. Hellions and Deadly Friend still had slips on them, which was a nice surprise. I chose the free magnet, and it's really thick and a nice quality to it. Thanks, SF!

i dunno what to get. pretty much all single 4k's are sold out with the " EXCLUSIVE 18" X 24" ROLLED POSTER" which sucks. also they not even 50% off

There's definitely been a shift at the label but I attribute it more to a drying well. There are many labels now vying for a limited pool of available titles - that's why we're seeing so many reissues, with Kino leading the way. HK action movies and Martial Arts are what's hot at the moment and that market was severely underserved until the floodgates were opened...now people can't get enough, and that's primarily who the labels are catering to. Once that cycle ends, what will the studios focus on? My answer is, more re-releases. The studios can't release what isn't "licensable" or available for whatever reason. We can grit our teeth or keep upgrading our favorite movies while we wait for rights to clear and owners to be located.
