I didn't see it as dictating. If anything, it was common sense/logical advice.

Health, food, clothes and somewhere to live are always priority in life. Anything else is a bonus. I agree it would be nice for us all to afford the pleasures we want, but unfortunately, life doesn't work that way.

If you really want 4K's etc, then find a higher paying job (easier said than done I know, but that is where tenacity comes into play), or work 2 jobs. Life doesn't owe anyone a thing.

If you want it, work for it. If you can't afford it, don't buy it.

Back on topic, I did have a little giggle that they removed the artwork. I was looking forward to owning it, just based on that

maybe it is just me, but I think an MSRP of $170 for 6 4ks AND blurays doesn't seem excessive, especially when it already down to $140. Waiting for a year end sale from Shout, or possibly a B2G1 sale at Target later, this set could go for as little as $100.
I have spent $60 for ONE 4k for some LE releases (Captain Kronos, Opera, etc.). getting 6 4ks in a nice box set for somewhere between $100 and $140 seems pretty reasonable, imho.. just my take on this, folks.

You can even get it right now for $115 (before applicable taxes) at Movies Unlimited using the code MUMAR25

I don't think the issue was the cost for what you're getting, but the fact that having 4K involves raises the price in general.

I know nobody will agree with me but in my opinion it sucks that they changed the art. I loved the shitty looking street art style of the illustrations, to the point where I was looking forward to seeing what volume 2 would look like.

Yeah, it looked like shit, but it felt like an earnest engagement with the content of the films.

PLUS, I'm still pissed they never changed the tacky, stupid art on those Halloween 4Ks!

This.

I wish the discs' MSRP were cheaper, everyone does, but that isn't happening in today's market. But at least most of Shout's output isn't limited editions, so I, and everyone else, can wait to get a better price.

Scream/Shout Factory listened to the cries and changed the artwork on Blaxploitation Classics Vol 1 in the space of a week, yet they haven't listened to the people and gave us a 4K of Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead for over 5 years, sad to say

I was trying to decide if I should cancel the Imprint Blaxploitation Volume 1 box set. The titles in that set are more interesting and not ones I have on blu ray already. Going to stick with it. Some individual releases would be nice, but I do feel like a box set will move more units.

Oh um bsend I don't know if you've seen the email I got back from Don May Jr. from Synapse about TAG, and The Deadly Spawn, but here ya go.

Hello,

For TAG, we had to wait to find new audio materials because the ones we found were very bad. Also, we could not find the original negative, but we did finally find materials with the Library of Congress. It just took a long time to sort out. This happens sometimes. Right now, the files are at the authoring house, but there are a few of our titles in front of it, including THE DEADLY SPAWN. We are currently putting the packaging together, but the discs have been turned in to the replicator as of yesterday.

Seeing a few posts via other sites saying as much and that Shout updated it on their site.

This is messed up from Shout!, because they could of done this to the Police Academy and Jackie Chan collections. 1 case per film, this makes me mad, and truly disappointed by Shout! for the other collections! Most likely I will be buying this one.

Throughout all this, I'm wondering how the artist is feeling right now? Shout actually changed the art for the cover. They didn't do this for Stephen Chow's Collection despite the complaints.

I started collecting movies when I was a lowly deli clerk and it definitely wasn’t beyond my means to have some luxuries including (at the time; this was twenty years ago) DVDs, so I can understand the frustration at prices going up. However, I agree with MifuneFan that MSRP for stuff is very rarely what we actually pay for these packages (I personally never do unless it’s something I really want to support and quietly encourage like Criterion’s Happiness release)— and since I later got into vinyl, I feel like the movie collecting hobby isn’t nearly as expensive as that one so long as you maintain some discipline about it. Which probably means avoiding the steelbook and slipcase crazes, lol.

.

The artist (assuming it wasn't done in-house) has been compensated either way. It's unfortunate, but who knows, maybe Shout just asked them to fine-tune it, and we'll see an updated version before it's released.

Nothing wrong with being a deli clerk mate. I respect anyone that works for a living, regardless of the job. Stuff can be expensive depending how much you buy. If you have the patience though, you can find some good deals.

Not sure if a deli clerk is someone making sandwiches or working the counter for deli meats etc.

A well made sandwich is like a home cooked meal. It's done wonders for me that can't be described in different points of me life.

For those working the deli counter, you give me one of the best simple pleasures. Cold cut snacks during or after a movie. Salami slices wrapped around provolone or roast beef wrapped around cheddar. Just fantastic stuff.

Everybody makes the world go round and deserves equal respect for what we do for each others lives.

Hopefully the Sleepaway Camps are coming this summer. I just sold all 3 Blu-ray’s with slips for $165 on eBay.

Risky move, I wouldn't do it, but then again I'm content with the Blus.

If bonus features don’t matter to the seller I guess the Sandpiper BDs can be purchased with the profit. I could have sworn the OOP Scream Factory discs are worth more than $165. Maybe the Sandpiper releases caused the price to drop?
