I was just looking at my DVD's of 'The Howling' franchise and I remembered...SHOUT! factory bought out Timeless Media Group earlier this year I believe. As a lot of you know, they are the ones responsible for that awful 'Howling Trilogy' "Blu-ray" BS of 3, 5 & 6. If SHOUT!'s new agreement IS with MGM, that apparently means SHOUT! will own:

'The Howling' (1981)
'The Howling II: Your Sister Is A Werewolf' (Stirba, Werewolf *****) UK Title (1985)
'The Howling III: The Marsupials' (1987)
'The Howling V: The Rebirth' (1989)
'The Howling VI: The Freaks' (1991)

...leaving 'The Howling IV: The Original Nightmare' (1988). I'm not counting that New Moon Rising POS.

Cliff.....I know I have asked you about 3, 5 & 6 Blu's before but if you guys DO have MGM, that would be amazing for almost the whole 'Howling' franchise to be in SHOUT!'s hands. Yea they aren't all Oscar contenders but, I enjoy 1-6 and I have the Blu of 'Howling: Reborn'. Maybe we can get Blu's of them sooner or later?

"The Howling" sequels were the few items that peaked my interest out of the Timeless Media acquisition. Whether Shout lands the other "Howling" movies, I'm sure they'll do something 3, 5 and 6 just because they have them, it's just a matter of when I'm sure.

Well,i think MGM will keep The Howling and The Fog for themselves. They just released Killer Klowns,TCM2 and Jeepers Creepers after all.Good flicks, but arguably (way) inferior compared to two aforementioned titles.People crave them for a long time, and MGM are aware of that.So...next Halloween?

I think Lionsgate owns 'Gods & Monsters' and 'Shadow of the Vampire' but, I wish those would come out on Blu too. Even though 'Gods & Monsters' is a fictional biopic of 'Frankenstein' (1931) director James Whale's final days, and not a horror film in the traditional sense, I thought it worthy of mentioning.

And 'One Dark Night' (1983) starring Meg Tilly and directed by Tom McLoughlin (Jason Lives) needs a Blu release too. I think ShriekSHow/Media Blasters last released the DVD.

We're now officially one day away from hearing about the first 2013 Scream Factory title! Anyone have any more thoughts on what they think the title will be? I'm still holding firm on either "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" or "The Fog". Although, I'm beginning to feel like "TerrorVision" could be a very likely candidate. Either way, whatever the title is I know I'll be pre-ordering it day one!

I would love, love, LOVE 'The Town That Dreaded Sundown' . I have never seen anything other than the cropped, Pan & Scan VHS tape.

The Town That Dreaded Sundown for sure! I'm not a fan, but there are others who are and I gladly support that.

My boyfriend said 'The Lady In White' is a good horror/thriller. I've never seen it but, he has the DVD but we've never watched it. I told him maybe SHOUT! will get MGM's catalog and they'll release it on Blu-ray.

Where did the runaway speculation about MGM come from beside the impending announcement? I've heard MGM via Fox wanted exorbitant licensing fees from companies like Scream Factory.

It said that the deal with the new sub-licensor will include films never before on DVD or Blu-ray. Our best guess would have to be MGM. Lionsgate and Paramount are also possibilities but the latter seems unlikely and I don't know about Lionsgate since I'm not sure about their horror catalog (though if it was, it would mean we can finally have a DVD edition of the Evil Dead 2 25th AE maybe a Dead Alive 20th AE and a new edition of The Wicker Man).

Kinds wish Lionsgate would get off their ass and release the Ginger Snaps trilogy. Best werewolf movie in since the '80s ended.

So those movies are good? I've heard so much about them but I've never seen them.

I don't know who owns the rights in the US (it's Universal in the UK), but it would be awesome if 'Candyman' would be part of the 2013 line.

BTW, finally got my H2 & H3 copies and I'm so in love with them.
Thank you so much Cliff, can't wait for Terror Train and Funhouse.

Any idea when we might hear the first Phantasm 2 news?

Not that I understand why you want a DVD version so bad when the blu-ray is so great but you can always buy the Canadian release from alliance. It's the same as lionsgates except it comes with a DVD version and a gorgeous slipcover, not a lick of French anywhere on the packaging and it's dirt cheap!

Not to speak for Fanboyz but TT did mention it on their FB page I believe.

Re: the licensing deal. And apologies for not knowing if or how many times this has already been discussed. Was it mentioned that it is mostly for horror type titles or might include a wider variety?

I wasn't sure if this thread has combined any discussion, if it included non-horror titles or not, since Shout! has also recently released other licensed titles, or if the discussion taking place in the Scream Factory thread meant it includes all or mostly horror/thriller type titles only.

Gods & Monsters is a great film! Let's hope Shout!Factory will get it at some point down the road, because i doubt it''ll ever get a BD release from LG.

Another possibility is the Vestron catalog. Movies like CHOPPING MALL fit Scream Factory criteria quite well (70's and 80's) - there's a lot of untapped stuff in that library. Something was said last year about Lionsgate's rights to some of those titles expiring "soon", so...

MGM owns Sleepaway Camp 2 now! At least that's what the Comcast On-Demand HD Print said that I rented.

So, this is an easy release now that it already exists in HD. Consider that.

I don't know who owns Sleepaway Camp 1 or if MGM owns that too now?

So, I'll put in a vote for the Sleepaway Camp trilogy. I would settle for part 2 as it's my favorite on by far... Part 3 is very weak and sleaze city. I might buy part 1 and would definitely buy part 2 on release day.
