I had Video Dead confused with another film with a similar title but one that was actually SHOT on video sometime around "87 or '88. Judging from that trailer, that isn't the film I had in mind (thank goodness). Looks good - definite blind buy.

Shout Factory and Scream Factory are the same thing, basically. Scream Factory is just a new line they started for all these '80s horror films they've got coming out. The Island and Death Valley are part of this line, and they are of a lower pedigree when compared to They Live, Halloween II, The Funhouse, etc.

If it is is specifically for 80s horror movies then that doesn't actually rule out Death Valley or The Island. I don't want to put words in your mouth but I assume you are saying that they do not consider them to be enough quality to be part of the The Scream Factory imprint so they are releasing them through Shout Factory. Which is strange as it would be like Kino giving their best titles to Kino Redemption and releasing lesser quality titles through their main line.

Seconded! Especially if it's uncut and released titled House III: The Horror Show. Decades of confusion and explanation would vanish overnight!

No he is saying they wont sell as well as Halloween 2, 3...they are known as lesser titles. Its not a question of *quality* but it terms of what sells. Scream Factory simply cant pay the bills selling movies like the Island. That's where movies like They Live and Halloween 2 & 3 come in to play.

Do you think that means there will be some "Biggies" announced in the coming weeks i.e. The fog,The burning or The howling to go along with the "smaller" titles announced over the last few fridays?.

I remember Death Valley at least and it isn't great. I haven't seen The Island but the trailer and reviews I've seen doesn't build me up with great expectations. I'm not a fan of Halloween 3 so much but the other movies on the Scream Factory label are all very good however, so it seems there is a certain level of quality control going on here, with or without name recognition. I appreciate your opinion but in regards to profit I can't see how it make a difference whether it was being marketed by Scream Factory or Shout Factory as it all goes into the same pockets like Coca Cola and Fanta.

What, by chance, do you mean by this?

As for The Video Dead, that goes on the "maybe" list...

It doesnt matter if its Scream or Shout ( Or Twist and Shout for that matter haha) as long as the releases keep coming
Im certain there will some more headliner movies at some point in the middle of these other *lower* titles. I think Video Dead will do pretty well. Releasing titles that sell is the business aspect which is why I think we could see the Psycho Sequels, Pumpkinhead & its sequel , the Fog , The Burning *blended in* with releases like Video Dead, Troll, Dolls, other lesser known titles that have had a VHS release.
As I said before I expect a lot of different happy faces on every Friday. Not every title is going to be gold to the consumer and I can already tell I will be renting a lot of these since I havent seen or heard of some titles like Prison or Death Valley, others I have heard of, but will have to rent to make sure I want like TerrorVision or Video Dead. I did hit the jackpot with the Nest
That interview with *cmac* on Fear.net explains a lot...

Never seen The Video Dead. It looks ok.

I'm hoping for more exciting announcements frankly. The Fog, The Burning, Prince Of Darkness, etc.

Of the Friday announcements, Prison has been my favorite so far.

I was referring to the amount of times I've had to explain to people why there's a House IV but seemingly no House III. The Horror Show was only billed as part III overseas.

The Shout/Scream Factory release of Halloween 2 is so much better than Universals release. It put Universals release to shame. It's nice to Halloween 2 get the respect it deserves at last. Glad I imported it.

Lets face it I don't think anyone saw The Shout/Scream factory edition, least of all me. I haven't watched The Doc Terror in The Aisles on the Universal release, but I have a feeling when I have that I will be selling it and its the version that omitted Akkads name at the beginning.

If Shout/Scream keep this quality up with their releases they are gonna become a major fan favourite if they aren't all ready!

Oh.....ok. For some reason I was thinking controversy as in....something crazy went on during filming, studio vs. director, one cut vs. a different cut, etc.... I remember way back when House IV got put out and I wondered where in the hell part 3 was since it didn't make since and I did research (Fangoria) and figured it out... lol

Very happy to hear this announced today! Call it a lucky guess I can't wait to see finally see this flick, I've heard nothing but great things. I know this may be a little premature but I have a feeling next week will be a title from the 1970s. I'm hoping for "The Town That Dreaded Sundown" but either way I just have a gut feeling it'll be from the 70s. Fantastic choice again this week, Cliff! Keep'em coming!
