That's a bit misleading since it was originally a BBY exclusive and was first available on Jan 31, 2011.

Ahh, childhood memories...

This one will take some creativity, as there's not much poster art to work with.

Then again, there is always this:

Or if you wanted to go a more "Criterion" route...
Wow...thanks for the post! I seriously love that poster. I'm really hoping they're going to use it now.

...Which is still last year. I didn't know about Melting Man though, so there is precedent. Speaking of, from the synopsis and the look of the hapless fellow, is the film a remake of First Man into Space? Someone asked about Poltergeist III getting a release already - there is a Japanese disc.

Yes, it's still last year but you can't necessarily go by release dates posted on a site. It was released on blu-ray in 2010 over in Europe and Asia. Poltergeist III was also released in several European countries (Germany, Italy, Sweden, and Norway).

I still have yet to watch my "Poltergeist II" Blu-ray from MGM but if Scream Factory wanted to release it as well as "Poltergeist III", I'd absolutely be game. I always found "Poltergeist III" to be underrated and it'd be nice to see it get a Blu-ray treatment. The trailer and a director's commentary would be just fine on that one.

It's actually been awhile since I viewed the blu-ray so I don't want to comment on the PQ just yet. All four releases were distributed by Fox for MGM so I'd assume the same disc is shared amongst the four countries. I have the Germany release which is region free.

Caps-a-holic has some screenshots comparing the German BD release to the US 2/3 dvd release.

The PQ for the Poltergeist II Blu-ray is very so-so. Some of the grain looks a bit odd at times and the original photography was always erratic to a certain degree with dated optical effects. I still like owning it on Blu-ray in 1080p, but it's not what I would consider a great transfer.

I hope so too... So far nothing has happened but we've asked them several times.

I really hope that something could be done about these titles, as they are two films from one of my favorite, most underrated directors. (I believe there is even a Ken Russell commentary for Lair on the long OOP DVD release from the later 90s/early 2000s.)

I've never seen the film but I read the book. Its a really interesting story. I'd like to see it on blu-ray I guess. I've heard a lot of good things about it.

My theory about Lionsgate is that they are seens as compettitors with other "cult" labels. That's probably why they won't, and it sucks too!

You can say that again. I'm sure a complete list of what Lionsgate has in its possession has never been shown publicly and probably for good reason. The wealth of stuff there actually sitting on would drive horror and cult enthusiasts alone up a wall! Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't Lionsgate pick up the rights to several major VHS companies complete libraries years ago? If that is right, there must be sitting on hundreds and hundreds of titles that have yet to see a DVD or Blu-ray release.

UPDATE: I did some digging and based on what I read over, Lionsgate absorbed USA Home Video as well as Vestron Video who were the single-most important leaders during the VHS boom! Their library is comprised of over 3,000 titles released during 1983-1995. In addition, Lionsgate absorbed Vidmark Entertainment which put out a ton of titles including "Dead Alive", "Demonwarp", "Nightwish" and "Midnight" back in the day. Talk about a wealth of stuff they must be sitting on. Sheesh!

Not sure I like that bottom artwork, he looks like the Tarman from ROTLD!
They could always add some reds and yellows to liven it up.

I know they have Vestron, Trimark, and god know's what else. If they actually did put out half the horror titles they own in good editions, I know they'd be rolling in the dough. But, I only think its gonna get worse. Lionsgate is a big company now. With "The Hunger Games", "Saw", "Texas Chainsaw 3D", and other big name franchises under their belt, they really are getting huge -which only means that they'll be like all the other mainstream companies. They'll be preoccupied with theatrical and new releases and forget about the classics, much like Anchor Bay.

Confirmed Collector's Editions:
- Halloween II
- Halloween III
- The Funhouse
- Terror Train
- They Live
- Deadly Blessing
- Phantasm II
- From Beyond

Confirmed Standard Editions:
- The Island
- Death Valley
- The Nest

Any speculation as to which titles announced for 2013 are gonna be Collector's Editions vs Standard Edition?

Also, a person a Facebook posted an image of "TerrorVision"'s poster with 'dvd + blu-ray combo pack' on the top. It was obviously not an approved design, mainly because they haven't announced if its even going to be a blu-ray or not, even though it did look "scream factory-ish'. But Scream! Factory liked the post. So that makes me think that it may be a non-collectors edition.

That might not be a bad thing, though. LG might figure that they're done with most catalog releases, and then somebody like Shout could swoop in and grab the goods! It's insane to think about what Shout could do with some of their '80s/'90s horror. Blu-rays of Chopping Mall, Bride of Re-Animator, Leprechaun (yeah, I said it), Blood Diner, Waxwork, The Unholy, Slaughter High, The Outing (1987), Nightflyers, Warlock, etc, etc, etc...(and Fright Night Part II, if LG still has it! )

This list is based entirely on what Scream Factory has deemed officially a Collector's Edition or not. Some haven't been confirmed yet such as "TerrorVision", "Prison", etc. but the second they are, my list will be updated. Hope this helps!

Yeah, anything helps. I just wish they could tease us with a little more info on some of the announced titles. I mean, they've only said that "The Nest" will be Standard and "From Beyond" will be a Collector's Edition. You'd think that they would've given up just a little bit more by now. I don't mind waiting though lol

Trust me, all these releases will be well worth the wait. I'm sure by November the latest we'll start hearing more specific spec details on some of the announced titles especially since all the titles up till January are already up for pre-order.
