Don't jinx it by saying that word.

I sure hope they're Blu-Ray releases though. I did buy a few cheap used DVD's from Gohastings a couple months ago since it was stuff that probably or may not get a Blu-Ray release. I don't mind the DVD's I have. But buying more DVD's just feels wrong.

Would love to see THE DAY AFTER (1983) get a deluxe Blu-ray. Would make a great double feature with 1988's MIRACLE MILE. Two of the most harrowing post-apocalyptic dramas ever made.

Jinx it ? Some DVDs look terrific still, it may not be HD but SF did some very serviceable SD transfers ( Kingdom of the Spiders)
I havent seen of the 3 just announced so I have to resort to VHS to watch them

Indeed, indeed.

I bought a bunch of the Corman stuff from Shout that never made it to Blu-ray... those have been my only DVD purchases in years though!

Cliff's fourpack with The Velvet Vampire comes to mind as a Shout DVD one should own.

That's what I said. I hate to buy DVD's anymore since it's now an "old format". I still will if I have to, on occasion, same as VHS. I just prefer not to cause if feels like I am buying something that is already outdated. I'm sure I am not alone in that when you're slowing trying to replace/upgrade your DVD's, you don't really want to make it a habit of buying more DVD's.

As far as the last 3 titles announced, Hospital Massacre had a German DVD release, if that helps. Otherwise yeah VHS since SF said they didn't have US DVD releases.

Hey, I noticed something when I was looking at the IMDb page for Stripped to Kill (1987). I know, great use of my time. Anyway, under Company Credits/Distributors, Shout Factory is listed. Was this a title that was planned and then scrapped, or just an error?

I remember seeing the VHS cover all the time when I was a kid, and it certainly made an impression on my young mind:

Yeah, it looks like an error to me because Shout Factory definitely never released that in 2011. It's currently out of print but "Stripped to Kill 2" can still be purchased through Corman's New Horizon storefront on Amazon. Maybe the fact that it's out of print could possibly mean that Scream Factory has scooped it up similar to "The Nest".

I wouldnt call it a habit other than some titles are only coming to DVD, such as Octaman, Godzilla vs Megalon, Code Red releases. DVD to me isnt outdated even though we are in the HD era. Overall Id call it the disc age. Ive replaced everything I could from SD to HD..and more things are coming up that I will be upgrading (Gorgo, Laura, Experiment in Terror) and there are titles I just dont think will ever be in HD such as some of the Alpha Video DVD movies, Retromedia stuff, Code Red stuff...I wont say never say never but some arent very likely.

Laura (1944)??? I saw that was coming to blu-ray in 2013 and it is one of my favorite films so I am sure I will probably be getting it on blu-ray but the FOX SD is really quite great....clean image, no real print damage. I almost like it more when they announce a title that I have on DVD already but needs a bit of an overhaul...say The Asphalt Jungle SD, that disc really has a lot of rough spots. But hopefully that will be announced next year too.

Some of you guys take this whole 'being so against DVDs' way to seriously. Isn't the actual movie the most important thing? That and the fact that alot of movies still aren't released on Blu ray, esp horror movies. Plus DVDs are't outdated or an old format, they are still getting made.

Entirely agree. The majority of horror movies that I own that are on dvd will, most certainly, never be on Blu. For anyone to be strictly into Blus and "shun" dvds, they're missing out on thousands of good horror flicks.

Ok, you love DVD's. I love the DVD's I have. Well, most of them. But I'm not thrilled with the idea of buying more. Will I still buy some? Of course I will. I'll still buy VHS if I come across something I want. Granted it's been awhile since I bought one but I remember it being Alice Sweet Alice about 6 years ago at a pawn shop for $1. I've been through having to upgrade my LD's, VHS and DVD's. Excuse me for not being happy about buying a format (DVD) whose heir apparent is already here.

@Ray O. Blu - I never even said I was strictly into BD's and was shunning DVD's. To be fair, at least read a persons post if you're going to comment on it.

Below is my post that somehow got people to rush to the defense of DVD. I don't really see what I said in it that was so upsetting. I even started the post with a little joke, or so I thought.

Cliff, can you share with us some info on non-horror titles that Shout! has acquired from MGM?What should we expect from that deal (genre wise;any particular decades you will focus on),and importantly, when SF will start to announce some of them?Cheers.
