so excited for all of the titles mentioned on facebook as well as the AV maniacs interview. Very excited for Captain America. I would imagine that they would have to do their own transfer as the MGM MOD dvd was fullframe and looked like a VHS transfer.
Hopefully other Pyun movies are in the mix Radioactive Dreams, Dangerously Close, Vicious Lips, Down Twisted are all great early movies of his and are NOT on dvd. They would be wonderful to have. I also really want to see Alien from LA. I happen to enjoy that film. The OOP MGM DVD was fullframe. Would love to see that in widescreen. Also hoping for the uncut extended version of Shout at the Devil with Roger Moore and Lee Marvin. Keep up the awesome work. I plan on purchasing all of the titles that you guys release!

+1. Albert Pyun is the director I always told myself that would never get his films to dvd let alone Blu ray. Down Twisted is actually a good flick that was my number one title that I dream of having in its proper framing. Great fun stuff his films.

Yeah, the "Bad heavy-metal T-shirt" look was good for the 80's Halloweens (although most of us fans preferred the original theatricals), but when you start applying it to The Fog or Pet Sematary, you're in trouble.
What the heck's that first one, btw, anyway "Trick or Treat"?

So why doesn't Scream/Shout! just do contests on DeviantArt? You have a ton of talented people, and to get the fans involved by picking the cover art they like the best AND getting a cover art for probably cheaper than what they are commissioning these artists to do = WIN WIN WIN.
Shout SHOULD be doing fan-pick contests, not just to build their cult base, but...for the same reason Criterion should be doing fan-pick cover contests, to build their fan base. Ie., a nice diplomatic cover-up for "You know why, and we know why... "

The only artwork that makes me WANT to buy the movie is the THEY LIVE artwork. Every single other piece I could care less, be it the floating photoshop head posters or the schlocky 14-year-old fan boy angled art (like FROM BEYOND).
SF, you can do better than this.
Specifically, once you get past "Trademark" and start actually think in the interest of marketing the film. There's still those mainstream shelves to think about, y'know.

As for the movies themselves, seems like Shout's finally extending their reach beyond Universal to MGM, and their Orion acquisitions of 70's/80's Avco and American Int'l, back in the days when they knew how to make 'em.
"From Beyond" was a muddled follow-up to the Gordon/Combs/Lovecraft wave of Re-Animator (just been watching the last season of Trek:Enterprise, and forgot how culty-good Jeffrey Combs could be), but doesn't amount to much, and why is everyone looking so forward to "Incredible Melting Man" after we got the MST3K version?
(Okay, a Mike episode, and during their crabby "c'mon, hurry up!" pre-cancellation seventh season, but it's still fair warning: )

But as long as we get The Fog and Howling, the studio reputation's safe.
I'm ALMOST tempted to see whether their MGM connection will automatically extend it to Howling II (just to see it upgraded better than Howling3 got on another label), but I shudder to think what their Ozzy Osbourne cover will be for that.

I picked up the blu-ray Collector's Edition of "They Live" to match the rest of my Scream Factory films. I got it at Midnight at a shady-side-of-town Best Buy. It was labeled 3.99 incorectly as part of the black friday sale and the cashier sold it to me! She said "I'm not sure why it rang up $24.99, but I'll adjust it". And the craxy thing is Best Buy shouldn't have been carrying it anyway. There was a single copy! I had perfect luck...

I wonder if they make Best Buy employees pay for errors in pricing after the errors are discovered. Or do cashiers have total discretion in adjusting a price even if it's just the customer's word against Best Buy's? I walked away with the Alien Anthology Blu set for $9.99 because the cashier was busy chatting with a co-worker and either didn't notice the mistake or didn't care. Afterwards I couldn't help thinking the cashier probably had to pay the $100 , or worse, got fired. But then I didn't feel too bad. If they hired professionals instead of kids, this stuff wouldn't happen.

Has anyone else spotted Shout Blu's at BB?

Yeah, I'm sure SF chooses not to send their product to Best Buy. I guess that's why we can't find SF titles in Wal-Mart stores either. SF doesn't want their product to be carried in the top B&M Blu-ray stores. That's it....

I know this technically isn't a horror movie, but would anyone else love if Scream Factory released Mommie Dearest?

It's from Paramount so it's not gonna happen, besides it already has a pretty good special edition.

And besides, most of SF's core audience is straight.

Have they confirmed if From Beyond will be using a new master or same as the MGM DVD?
If they are going to do a new master then I wont get the UK edition and will go for SFs version.

I don't believe it's been stated either way.
