Hmm.. First I've heard about that but it's certainly intriguing. My anticipation is high for "The Fog" and I know you guys are going to pleased with Scream's final result

Cliff,
Don't sweat the facebook haters! I find the double sided artwork is a win win! I got shivers reading about the Fog's new HD transfer supervised by the DP. Thanks for making the definitive releases to these classics.

Cliff,
Sorry to hear about all the negativity from others. You guys are truly doing an amazing job with Scream Factory. I wish nothing but the best for everyone and I do realize you can never satisfy everybody. Try not to take their sour comments to close to heart. Cant wait to see what the future holds for us. Thank you.

Odd to hear Scream Factory complain about negativity; everywhere I've seen they have releases that are the most heralded and applauded out there right now... does Facebook, which is mostly foreign to me, exist in some sort of disconnected upside down dimension? [maybe it's Facebook that is on the other side of From Beyond]. Really, people only hate because they care... if I was Scream Factory I would take the shark filled cesspool that is Facebook as a compliment.

Wait... Did I hear someone say Scream Factory has Dark Angel (aka I Come In Peace)? Yeah! [See, announcements do get people pumped]

Sure, blu-rays and hd upconverted dvds look simillar, but I would still rather just stick it in a blu-ray case and pay 10 bucks more, just to say I have it on blu-ray...

But I know how you feel, not wanting to be a pain my say "I'm not gonna buy any dvds", when its not because you're being irrational.

Blu-ray is where its at and its hard to manage 2 formats at once.

And I have also never heard about the Fog alternate tracks and stuff, so news to me too. Maybe Cliff could fill us in.

So, Cliff...

You ever get a second shot at "Ms. 45"? I really hope you could push that one through. The plot makes the movies sound way worse than it actually is...

About The Fog, found something briefly mentioned in a passing on a thread about 80's Carpenter tv edits. All it said was Matt/Old Biff's site had something about a Fog Tv Edit.

I also found this

"The most interesting tidbit about this movie is that about one-third of the film consists of footage that was completely reshot after Carpenter viewed a rough cut. He added the prologue at the beginning in which John Houseman’s character, Mr. Machen, tells the campfireside ghost story to a group of children. He also added several other scenes, in addition to reshooting others that he felt didn’t work, in order to add some gore and to connect some dots that weren’t connected in the first cut."

"In addition to the extensive additions/reshots, the score was also completely redone. Carpenter has said that he felt that the original score was “heavy-handed and obvious,” so he redid that, too.

The original score to The Fog has been released a couple of different times, but neither version contains the complete score that actually appeared in the film. In fact, the only way you could get the updated score that appears in the film is via the isolated track that appeared on the laser disc, which some kind soul on the Interwebs went to the trouble of ripping."

So my understanding is, the footage that was crap was cut, better scenes and extra gore where added (that's a change ), and the score was redone, and alternate bits of score can be found on various official releases of the soundtrack.

Hope that helps.

Edit: Oh, and here's the source for the second set of notes

I just watched Amityville II: The Possession, which I DVR'd from EncoreHD the other night...sure would like to see Scream put out a blu-ray for this film!
Sorry to hear about all the negative comments Scream's been recieving, I think they are doing a great job from everything from the covers ( love having the new and original to choose from, in most cases ) to the titles that they are releasing...

Huh. I'd only seen the movie on TV, with the Houseman scene, and it worked. Given Carpenter's "Seacoast ghost story" motif, I can't really imagine the movie opening any other way.

As long as it STAYS double-sided. It's okay if we want to show off our rather overstated cleverness, but don't piss in the rest of our pots.

I know nothing about the tv version. The cut scenes were cut from the rough cut. I don't know what's in the tv cut

Im sorry but this comment is absolutely stupid - if you love the film that much to want it on disc, does it really which format, HD TVs will do an upconvert and the transfer will still be about as stunning as it can be since Shout does care about quality
Furthermore no one else would even bother putting this on DVD to begin with and if it wasnt for Shout the movie would be stuck in VHS limbo...
Its comments like that have caused Scream/Shout to stop with the early announcements...and ruined it for everyone.
That Blu Ray or nothing attitude to me is like a spoiled little baby

There was a 2 Disc CD version released not too long ago for the score for THE FOG by Silva Screen records that is said to contain the original album and complete score versions. (not sure if any of the music is missing at all on this release?)

What is the phone number for Shout customer service? I couldn't find anything on their web page. I just received an email that my "payment transaction has failed" despite having used this card on previous orders without incident. Indeed, I was already charged back in November, and it wasn't a temporary charge. Now Deadly Blessing will be delayed. Grrrr....

Edit: I called this number several times, but it's always busy: 1-866-604-0562

No one's obligated to buy anything! I see his point, as I too find it hard to make myself buy a dvd when multiple blu-rays that I want more are coming out, too.

His comment was an opinion. He wasn't hating on Shout and wasn't being rude to Cliff or anyone elese who works there by demeaning their efforts and job.
He respectfully, as I also am, declined the offer to buy dvds of these films.

I'm not acting spoiled either, I just can't bring myself to buy dvd after making the switch to blu-ray and getting rid of majority of my dvd collection, save a few titles. The centrepeice of my den is my blu-ray collection, my dvds aren't even in sight. I would gladly buy a blu-ray, but SORRY...

I'll have to respectfully pass on the dvd-only releases.

But keep up the good work Cliff...

Thumbs up

So, Cliff, being that you guys are working with MGM and Universal again to sub-liscense some more titles, I have these suggestions, even though I'm sure you heard them a thousand times by now:

•MGM:

- Motel Hell
- Prom Night II: Hello Mary-Lou
- The Howling II: You're Sister's a Werewolf
- Sleepaway Camp 2 / 3
- Candyman 2 / 3
- Needful Thing
- New Year's Evil
- Troll
- Phantom of the Opera (Robert Englund version)

• UNIVERSAL:

- Shocker
- The People Under the Stairs
- Prince of Darkness
- Village of the Damned
- The Thing
- The Serpent and the Rainbow
- Sleepaway Camp
- Sssssss
- Raising Cain

I feel like those are the most known horror flicks that the two companies have ties to. I really hope you get Prom Night II and Motel Hell!
