I hope they do get MOTEL HELL in the future, especially considering it's never have a super legit US release. Day one for me

And I think its safe to say they have "Dolls" based on deduction and subtle hints given. And I think that's just the tip of the iceburg.

I've been doing this for almost 30 years. Yes, I think I know what sells by now.
We also have access to data that shows how EVERY film has sold on DVD and Blu-Ray and we use those numbers to come up with how we think titles will sell. We use real data. We don't pick films out of hats or out of thin air. There is reseach involved.
It also depends on what's available to us. We can't get every film. Some films were licensed to other companies.
Fair enough. Sorry to annoy you with such a long rant, it became less about movies you could get and more about defending Price having a fan base. I guess I am just baffled that current horror fans don't watch anything before 1975. They are missing out on a lot of great titles. Hopefully another company can release these on Bluray one day, probably someone in the UK. Too bad Garr has most of the good titles here as I could see Kino or Synapse releasing these.

Either way no disrespect meant, love everything you guys are putting out and will eventually get them all. I guess that's why for me and probably most others on here it's a huge disappointment to hear that you won't get out favourite title as we know you would deliver it justice. Just need to accept like you said you can't get everything.

You do know we are releasing THE VAMPIRE LOVERS, right?

Also, I already mentioned we have some Vincent Price films.

I would absolutely love Motel Hell as well. It'd be nice to get that.
And I guess it'd be possible with a 2nd MGM deal.

We know that Shout! would be interested in making more deals with the same companies (I.e. MGM, Universal, Fox, and whoever they got "Day of the Dead" from...) As they have spoken about another Universal deal, and Cliff has said that he's still trying to get "Phantom of the Paradise" from Fox.

So, I'm sure another deal with MGM is forthcoming, so let's all hope that Cliff grabs some more awesome movies, and hopefully "Motel Hell" is one of them!

Great Job btw guys! Scream Factory does excellent work.

I wonder what Price films they have. I love Vincent Price films, well most of his films..
If they arent Corman Price films that leads me to say (speculative only)
The Abominable Dr Phibes
Dr Phibes Rises Again

Theater of Blood ( this needs anamorphic treatment)
Scream and Scream Again
I kind of doubt they have Shock and the Last Man on Earth
Come to think of it, they could do a box set with those titles...hmmm wheels are turning now

The gothic expressionistic era of Universals monsters: DRACULA, FRANKENSTEIN, THE WOLFMAN

horror replaced by sci-fi in the 50s... (still iconic images of giant bugs and shrinking people)

The actor driven 60s: Price, Karloff

The british driven 70s: Cushing, Lee

The slasher characters of the 80s: JASON, LEATHERFACE, MICHAEL MYERS, FREDDY, PINHEAD (though not technically a slasher)

death of horror for a while...

90s = SCREAM - though not technically a character, the image of GHOSTFACE is extremely iconic and identifiable.

Now what do we have? Your last really good FACE of horror was SAW - Billy the puppet, the pig masks, the traps themselves.

The face of horror right now is a bunch of shaky, crappy looking found footage with nothing that materializes and nothing to identify with. There is no halloween costume for Paranormal Activity. There will be no Halloween costume for something as forgettable as MAMA. Say what you will about Insidious, but at least THAT haunted house movie gave us the red faced demon, the old woman with the candle and the shotgun twins to identify with. As opposed to 8 million found footage, demonic possession movies that dont have the intelligence, marketing forsight or dramatic gravitas to create a REAGAN for us to latch onto.
There is a lot of truth in your post with one glaring omission however. The re-emergence of the post-apocalyptic zombie film in the 21st Century. While not technically character specific the image of the zombie in general has never been more identifiable or more popular and one could make a solid argument that it is the current "face of horror." Films like 28 Days/Weeks later, the Dawn of the Dead remake, Shaun of the Dead and I Am Legend to name but a few have ushered in a new age of zombie material like Zombieland, The Crazies remake, The Walking Dead tv series and the upcoming Warm Bodies and big budget World War Z.

Cliff, who has the rights to Suspiria? Is it still a Weinstein title? It hasn't been available in North America in years. Would make a good Shout release.

Gaff has these, so we can rule them out:

Dr. Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine
Dr. Goldfoot and the Girl Bombs
From a Whisper to a Scream
Madhouse
Masque of the Red Death
Scream and Scream Again
Tales of Terror
The Abominable Dr. Phibes
The Last Man on Earth
The Pit and the Pendulum
The Raven
Theatre of Blood
War Gods of the Deep

However "The Cry of the Banshee" among a few other Price/Corman-Poe movies did stay with MGM. Making them game for Scream to pick up...

Both of these are with TGG

American Ninja 1 is housed in a three pack with widescreen versions of Revenge of the Ninja and Rage of Honor.

American Ninja 2 and American Ninja 3 are available in a two pack exclusively on Amazon.com both in decent looking widescreen masters.

I'd recommend both sets as it's a great way to get these in widescreen.
Actually some of the discs that TGG released are pretty decent, especially the new amazon.com discs as they have many previously full frame dvd's now in widescreen. I guess MGM gave them newer masters.

I recently got the set Fighting Heroes pack and was pleasantly surprised to see Run Silent Run Deep in a new 16:9 master.

Yes I have this pre-ordered.

As for Price films I thought you said you did that's why I was confused when you said there isn't much of an audience for his films. Hopefully any Hammer or Price films you get will sell well enough. I know I will be picking them up!

Yeah I believe that's where he was voted #1 in the 100 most important names in horror history. Horror ect. a popular horror cast voted his number one as well for the most important face in horror.

I would love for Shout to release Suspiria but it doesn't really fit the other titles they have released and I believe the Weinsteins still own the rights unfortunately.

Yeah it unfortunately looks like Garr has most of the good titles but any Price is usually worth picking up! Scream has been getting a lot of the sequels could Dr. Phibes Rises Again join that club? Twice Told Tales is another great flick not on that list. More anthologies on Bluray are needed.
