Apparently, a new HD transfer of the classic "Day of the Dead" is being readied for a Collector's Edition Blu-Ray this year, according to their Facebook.

A little off topic but, if you didn't know...

Vinegar Syndrome is putting out "Massage Parlor Murders" on BD, April 9th, and my review is up. Its a really interesting film, I definitely think you should check it out!

Thats awesome. Despite owning the Arrow and Australian Blu rays of this movie, I'm so pumped for the Scream release. It's my favourite zombie film of all time. I hope Scream make the artwork nice and gory!!!!!. Something similar to this would be awesome.

It being Scream and a CE if that is the case then don't count on it. It'll be custom done more then likely. Which doesn't matter to me, I'm happy to get it.

I did not get DAY OF THE DEAD from Anchor Bay, which was lucky because I would much rather have a Shout Factory version of pretty much any film.
Did they ever comment on if they were porting over the extras from Anchor Bay's releases?

Also, seeing as Anchor Bay officially no longer has Dawn of the Dead, what are the odds that Scream may pick it up? I'm thinking pretty good, if we just knew who owns it...

As long as Scream could secure everything from the 4 disc Ultimate Edition from a few years back (I.e. all three cuts and every extra) i would love to own a definitive HD version of Dawn Of The Dead. Especially since Day is going to look so lonely sitting up there without Dawn to keep him company.

If I understand correctly the film master elements from the Dawn of the Dead Argento and Director's Cut versions are in poor shape so not suitable for high definition; this is why Arrow only released the theatrical version of DOTD on blu-ray (Argento and Director's cut were on DVD only). I'm not sure if it'd be possible to somehow pull it off using existing good quality material and don't entirely "buy" that material for a classic like DOTD was not better preserved. Maybe someone else could shed light on this.

Edit: Apparently there is a blu-ray of the Argento cut avaliable in Italy as a limited edition; I'd be curious about the quality.

If Anchor Bay would even be willing to give up the bonus features from the 2 disc DAY OF THE DEAD dvd they produced...

and I would even be happy with the alternate cuts of DAWN on DVD and the theatrical american version on BD, with the original and new bonus features, if (and thats a pretty big IF) Scream Factory could ever get their hands on it.

The fact of the matter is though, that someone does have the rights to DAWN, and they have licensed it out before so they might consider doing it again. It would look great next to my SF Day of the Dead blu!!

WHEN A STRANGER CALLS... BACK!

Universal has the rights to the sequel to When a Stranger Calls, and it would be amazing if Shout could release this. Its a really good made-for-tv movie and a well made and overlooked film.

I second that, it was a Showtime movie, and I'd love to see it again. Same director and principal cast members returned also.

That's a bit of understatement since all together these probably cost about $150 after shipping!

$197.00 and free 2 day shipping via Amazon Prime. I don't usually get to drop this kind of money on blu-rays but it sure felt good
