Don't buy the movie.

If you think the mst3k crew is viable filter, you aren't a fan of these kinds of films.

You'll be wasting your money.

I should point out someone can like a film that was riffed by the MST3k guys and still enjoy the show.

I agree with this. I think it's certainly possible (and actually probably likely for most people who enjoy the films) to enjoy both the show and the movie's they riff.

They are both on YouTube. I am surprised to see the blu ray for sale on amazon for $13.98

Last time I'm touching this issue because it has no place here. I get as much amusement seeing the humor of bad movies as I do movies I like. Stuff like rifftrax, honest trailers, and cinema sins are really funny on bad movies, but its also fun pointing out all of the cliches, holes, etc of stuff I enjoy because it creates a new experience (and I don't find any of the three entities I mentioned to be mean spirited, which I think others enjoyment is depending on their interpretation of the spirit of the commentary).

Now I'm done. Time to rest before surgery tomorrow

I liken this to rich people making fun of poor people. Or someone looking at a disabled person and snickering. It's just not right. I'll never understand why someone would waste their time watching a film while listening to these jokers make fun of (in their eyes) bad films.
I just want to throw my two cents in and say that being an MST3K fan isn't mutually exclusive from having "deep respect for the art of filmmaking". I agree that all films should be preserved in the best possible quality, regardless of whether the film is Citizen Kane or Manos: The Hands Of Fate; I'm one of the people that donated to the Kickstarter for the HD restoration of Manos, specifically because of that philosophy. However, I still love MST3K, its spinoffs, the various shows on Channel Awesome, etc.

If you don't find them funny, that's fine, more power to you. People have different comedic tastes; I love George Carlin, Bill Hicks, Louis C.K., and some of my friends like Daniel Tosh and Dane Cook. But I do find it silly that there are some people, in this very thread, that were willing to pass up The Incredible Melting Man if they included the MST3K episode on it, when they could simply just not watch the extra. If you don't like it, that's fine, but it would have been nice for it to be included for those whom are fans of the show; it would have been a nice little treat for us while we wait for the next box set.

+1 on that...maybe some members some comments attention. The *refuse to buy* because it contained an extra that wasnt liked sounded ridiculous to me, that I wondered if they just wanted to be noticed by saying some off the wall comment

I watched "Death Valley" over the weekend and really enjoyed it, it's not the best horror film ever made but it has a few really good moments and over all I thought it was a solid movie and Peter Billingsley (Ralph form A Christmas Story) did an excellent job in his performance. But the best part was.....

[Show spoiler]When Peter Billingsley is playing cowboy and he calls the bad guy "Black Bart" which Bob Clark must had liked also because Black Bart was Ralphs bad Guy in A Christmas Story

Good Job Scream Factory

I never even heard of Death Valley, much less a demand for it.

I had never heard of it before either, I only bought it becasue I want to own all the Scream Factory Blu-Rays, I was glad I bought this one, so far The Island has been the biggest disappointment.

I'll take the challenge. As I said, I trust Michael Ritchie. Besides, it doesn't look as bad as A Simple Wish.

I enjoyed it as well - Michael Caine is as effective as ever. I was reminded somewhat of The Hills Have Eyes, at least with regard to the inbred, blood-thirsty natives, complete with mildly sympathetic female member.

'The Island' was a great book, written by Peter Benchley who also wrote 'Jaws'.

and I hate how unclassy MST3K is. Its a little funny, sometimes. But most of the time it just gets on my nerves. It very dull and kinda lame, imo.

I love Elvira, though. I think she actually adds to the film experience, without down right getting in the way of it. I wish Shout would upgrade those to bluray. I think that would be interesting.

Also, I was psyched to see the original 'House on Haunted Hill' was being put out on BD, then I realised it was just a rifftrack version.

But I would welcome Elvira as bonus features on some of these BDs. She is funny and she knows her movies. Her bad movies. She even commented that she 'kinda likes Manos'. Which is astounding

and another thing, isn't someone doing a BD of Manos, I heard about that a few months ago and the kickstarter comment reminded me

I'm not going to go into a pre-conseus about The Island, I'll be judging it by its own merits.

The Island isn't a bad movie, it just doesn't have the replay value.

I saw it as a kid on TBS, then I saw it again on Cinemax sometime last year. I don't have any real desire to see it again.

So far, that's the only Scream Factory release I've passed on. Will also be skipping The Vampire Lovers, and will probably try a rental first on Dead Souls.

Otherwise, I own them all so far or have them pre-ordered.

This one I enjoyed... It's no classic for sure but fun to watch. There's one scene with Wilford Brimley as a sheriff alone with the villain that's a standout...very suspenseful and terrific mood.

A Scream Factory release of Elvira: Mistress of the Dark would be utterly fantastic. I judge anyone who doesn't find that flick funny.

Anchor Bay used to have it, but now I believe Image has it, so it's probably a no-go.
