So the press release saying deleted scenes are "all-new Scream Factory extras" is a typo or is just the optional commentary on those scenes the new thing?

To all the people who prefer the Italian cover - please mention it on Facebook! Apparently they are going with the US art, but if enough folks voice their preference, maybe they'll bow to popular sentiment.

Just comparing the art, my god the Italian poster is the only one that does not suck...
Here they are, imo, in best to worst order. I spoiler tagged the other 'Night of the Comet' posters and rightly so, because some of them are quite large and ugly as hell.

Yup, the other two are terrible. Even if it wasn't awesome (which it is) the Italian cover would still be preferable.

Must be a typo because I recall the commentary too.

EDIT: Wait, there's no commentary but the actual deleted scenes are there.

It has to be, unless there are additional deleted scenes that have recently been unearthed? That seems pretty unlikely. I'm sure the 'new' is the Dante commentary.

Like I said, I made a mistake I heard the deleted scenes had a commentary on the original DVD.

I adore that cover from Italy.

Do you think they would even have access to it? Being that they are an American company, or do you think there is some restrictions. But MGM should have all domestic rights related to the film, after all the produced and distributed it.

If they did, the rights would be at Warner Brothers, not MGM. MGM tends to have some sort of monopoly on gaining libraries to defunct film companies even United Artists.

I would hope so because it is quite stunning. I think it certainly stands out over any other arts I have seen.

Nathan Thomas Milliner did a gorgeous one on his site. It was great. Anyone know who is doing the NIGHT OF THE COMET newly commissioned artwork? I hope it is Nathan, as he has said that he really has a passion for the movie.

Thats what I would think also.

And I was floored when My eyes fell upon the Italian poster. I remember you talking about it awhile back and I went and looked it up. Muy Bonita!!

MGM didn't produce or distribute Night of the Comet theatrically. It was produced by Thomas Coleman and Michael Rosenblatt Productions in association with Film Development Fund and distributed theatrically by Atlantic Releasing Corporation. It appears MGM purchased the Atlantic Releasing Corporation's film library at some point.

While I really dig the Italian poster art for "Night of the Comet", I think that Scream should stay the course and only offer the US 1-sheet posters as the reversible cover. Obviously, in the case of "From Beyond" and "The Fog", alternate (and more favorable) styles were chosen but they were still US 1-sheets. I think a great trade-off would be to have the newly commissioned artwork tap into the spirit of that Italian poster and do something truly unique. Even though the US 1-Sheet poster isn't the greatest of its day, it still is the image that fans associate with "Night of the Comet" in this region for better or worse.

I see a poll happening soon, because there are so many different styles for it, and we need to get a better sense of which ones the fans want specifically.

maybe a compromise with these slightly different, but better looking arts or even the dvd art.

Aside from the DVD artwork which wasn't anything memorable, there all similar takes on the original 1-sheet poster. I still say just stick with the US 1-sheet and knock it out of the park with the newly commissioned artwork. The reality is that the new art on this film will probably be the first time where the majority of buyers favor it over the original poster anyways
