great news on the Price boxed set!!!

maybe if we all support it and sales are good, another set could be released down the road with the rest of the Price/Poe/Corman flicks!!

Surely they've got to do the Psycho sequels. They're just screaming out for the Scream Factory treatment.

Hey now, I'm plenty psyched for Squirm and Deranged. I'm thinking The Car might be coming from Scream.

Im so glad they announced the Price set ! That just rocks really..just wonderful news.
Ill be picking that up.
Has anyone noticed that when Arrow or Scream announces a title that the other has , the other studio announces theirs as well ? (Knightriders, Lifeforce)
I think that this is a great idea for customers who have certain choices, preferences and budgets to deal with. Knowing who has what really helps out a lot of buying conflicts, especially when two studios are getting MGM titles...
Oh I want that Price set now I can taste it.
For me I just need to find a single DVD of the Premature Burial as I have the double feature with Masque of the Red Death. Tomb of Ligeia would have been cool too but Im so happy for what is on that set already !!!

It don't get much more Vincent Price than that.

(Even though Witchfinder/Conqueror technically isn't a "horror" film, just the British director trying to shock 60's sensibilities with the new "Inquisition porn" subgenre that would ultimately help end the 50's days of AI and Hammer.)

Hm...

So here's a review of their Cold Prey II DVD, and here's a menu shot of the special features menu on the review copies that were sent out:

I purchased the retail version from Best Buy online, and here's a screencap of the menu on my disc:

So I guess they pulled the special features from the retail version. What's the story here?

Other way around for me. I was floored with all of those Arrow titles. I'm happy for Vincent Price fans but those aren't my cup of tea. On another note, what happened to "we're not doing 60's titles"?

I honestly have no idea. I mean, I'm still going with the prototype theory because that was probably shipped by mistake.

There's a review for the Cold Prey 2 release on Badass Digest. The reviewer stated the deleted scenes on his copy were identical to the scenes already in the cut of the movie released by Shout. I'm guessing someone realized the error and removed the "deleted" scenes between the time the screener copies were pressed and the retail copies were pressed.

They said primarily 80s with some 70s and possibly some 60s, but I cant recall completely ..but I love all news today. Im getting Arrows Squirm and The Car for sure...And I love those Price films...I might still get House of Usher if Scream doesnt carry the extras that Arrow has..some I can live without though..It should at least have the commentary..Time will tell as always

Best announcement in a while! Not a lot of my favourite Price flicks, but any Price is great news! Strange that they got the rights to Abominable Dr. Phibes, but not Dr. Phibes Rises Again! Hopefully that shows up in a second box set with Tales of Terror, Twice Told Tales, Theater of Blood and Madhouse.

So Shout's Cold Prey II DVD is actually an unadvertised director's cut?

The actual DVD runs about 89 minutes (the retail version without the deleted scenes). The back of the case says 94 minutes. IMDB lists 86 minutes (probably sped up for PAL).

Even if it is an extended cut, there's still the issue of it freezing up...

Here's the specific info from the Cold Prey II review:

Quote:
Shout's disc is technically bare-bones; there are deleted scenes (with a 'play all' function that didn't work on my disc), but they're all in the movie? It's not like Dogma or whatever where they say it's a deleted scene when it's really just a scene we saw with an extra line or two, I mean they are LITERALLY the exact same thing we saw in the film itself. My only explanation is that they were cut from a different release of the film (they're all of the quieter variety; the sort of thing you would expect to see cut from a film), and Shout didn't realize that they had provided the full cut of the film with all that material included. Or maybe they did realize it and it was too late to change the disc, as neither the "deleted" scenes nor the film's trailer (the only extras) are advertised on the disc's packaging.
