I worked for Sony for years and there is so much money that goes into these releases. Stickers, Upc, Shrink Wrap, suitable prints, replication, duplication, covers, editing, slipcovers, remastering, audio restoration, production of special features and making them HD, menu design, layering, etc, etc, etc...

I dont see it happening... Too Bad though.
Momma is right... it cost a lot of money to make these disc and if you decide you are going to spruce up a public domain title, you can't stop another label from pulling your work off a copy of it (either DVD or BD) and using the print you spent money to spruce up since it's PD. You can't copyright a master.

It's fun and FOX, and I would love to have it on Blu-Ray from Scream. It would probably sell pretty well too, with the built in audience from Rocky Horror!
Look some more. The whole movie's up there...
I watched some the other day, even though I have the DVD. It is, without a doubt, one of my favorite sequels ever. It's up there with Clerks 2 and Gremlins 2.

No special features but there weren't any on the DVDs either.
I'm aware but I'm saying Shout can do better but if not, there are other titles anyway.

New Art for X-Ray/Schizoid is up.

***EXCLUSIVE KEY ART REVEAL***

Two long-lost slasher films from the legendary Cannon Pictures roster finally see their DVD and Blu-ray courtesy of new transfers!

1980's SCHIZOID (starring Klaus Kinski, Donna Wilkes, Christopher Lloyd and lots of scissor stabbings) is paired with 1982's X-RAY (also known as HOSPITAL MASSACRE and stars Barbi Benton). If you're a fan of the mad killer sub-genre from this time period, you will definitely need this double bill for sure.

August release planned. More specific details (i.e. exact street date and extras) will be announced at a later date.

X-RAY FANS TAKE NOTE: Our presentation of X-RAY is the full 89 min version - which is what HOSPITAL MASSACRE was released on VHS in the 80s - and not the cut version that has, apparently, existed on overseas VHS copies or some cable airings. We did our homework on this one.

Hi Cliff,
Glad to see you back on here! Thanks for all of the work on these great releases. I'm psyched to see what else is in store for the rest of 2013 as well as next year. Thanks for saving films like Ninja 3, Captain America, X-ray and Schizoid. I never thought in a million years that these films would get new widescreen masters. I thought I'd be stuck with my crappy FF transfer of Captain America forever.

Hopefully down the line you guys can save some other MGM/EMPIRE/Cannon films from full frame hell. It's a shame it costs so much to do new transfers. I'd imagine if it was less costly, you guys would work with more of the films that need the extra work.

Thanks for making me a believer in home video again!

Quick question, If you denied a film as not on the list for release, does that mean that it is a never gonna happen or are some of those films potentially possible for later down the road next year...the year after etc?

Also, if for some reason, MGM decides to go back and remaster more of their catalog, would you have access to those newer masters if you have already acquired the film and the older master?

Maybe one day Fox/MGM will go back and remaster more of their Cannon/Empire films.

If I win the lotto, I will gladly donate funds for remastering

Thanks a bunch for all the hard work and don't let some of the negative comments put you down. There are a lot of us who are grateful for what you all do.
-Mark

It costs money to make new masters, we're all clear on that. I think some of us are OK with using what's available if it's a lesser, more obscure film and there hasn't been a home video release since VHS. How many agree? It's better than nothing.

I agree, especially if something was never released on dvd, like RAD! At this point I just want that film in my collection, I wouldn't get really fussy over transfer and everything because I would just be happy to have it.

Finally bought Halloween II at Frys today for $19.99. I'm slowly but surely building up my Scream titles. Still have a ways to go yet.

I think there was also speculation that Sony didn't allow 3rd party companies to port pre-existing special features, but that was either inaccurate or no longer the case since Twilight Time was able to port the Christine special features for their Blu-Ray.

Whoops. Sorry, didn't see this. Okay, that explains things; thank you.

I'll second just wanting RAD in my collection. They don't make'em like that anymore. Awesome BMX movie that never made it to dvd or how about Airborne? An awesome rollerblading movie that for some reason never made it to dvd either.

So is the Ninja 3: The Domination release going to be the uncut version?

Btw here is some Italian cover art featuring the great Lucinda Dickey for Ninja 3 under the title Trancers.

Funny, that's two movies reviewed by the Nostalgia Critic you suggested.

I hope you win the lotto!

I recall the cut version that used to run on Showtime in the 80's actually removed Barbie's nude exam scene, which sort of defeats the whole purpose, if you know what I mean.
