Any chance you can share what some of those are? I'd love to know what titles you'd love to release, but won't because you know they're unlikely to make any money.

I'll probably still pick them up. I think Cockney vs. Zombies looks pretty good actually. Dead Souls I'm not sure about but I'll give it a chance. I don't want to have an incomplete collection . Even the titles that I didn't love like The Video Dead, I'm still happy to have it as part of my collection, and I wouldn't have seen it any other way. The extras were fun, and the cover art is great!

That must hurt a little? Releasing all of these great horror titles but not able to release all of the ones you REALLY want. I'm curious to know what titles as well, wasn't Ms. 45 was one of them?

These films are hot right now, you can't judge an audience for a film presently by how well it sold 8 years ago!

And Movie-Brat, we get it you don't like the film, if it ever gets released just don't buy it, and let all of us who do enjoy it pick it up. What's the big deal? It's not like The Video Dead, Incredible Melting Man, ect. are all horror masterpieces. Personally I will buy anything Scream releases but you don't have to. Lots of people don't like some of the choices Scream have made and lots love the choices Scream have made. You can't please everyone.
It's not people liking it that's the problem, my problem is that it sounds like to me the "So bad, it's good" stuff is all people want to see released. At least the Vincent Price stuff is getting a Blu-Ray release, that's good news to me. It's just that there's obviously better stuff out but there are two problems, people don't seem to like the good stuff and whatever is good, it just didn't sell.

I think you're missing the point, honestly. It's not that that's all that people want to see released, it's just that those types of movies deserve to be released too for their fans, and a lot of people in this thread seem to agree with that notion.

They want it, fine. Again, it just gives me that impression. And Cliff has a point, if something like Howling II didn't sell well the first time, how will it sell now?

I think it amounts to this: The Blu-Ray format is currently still not seeing a great deal of classic horror releases, and Scream Factory is becoming a powerful brand in horror with a dedicated following. The Howling II is getting more and more notorious for being "so bad, it's good", and to a lesser extent, so is The Howling III. A Double Feature Blu-Ray release for those two films could see at least decent sales, if done well. Not saying it's definitely going to sell, of course, but it's definitely possible.

I don't subscribe to that nonsense "so bad it's good" mentality. Hell, I've watched HOWLING II many times on my own because it's a lot of fun.

It's absolutely no better or worse than some of the other films SF is releasing, INCREDIBLE MELTING MAN or THE VIDEO DEAD, and I would argue that it's much more enjoyable than those.

I have no problem with SF's strategy so far. They're running the gamut of the genre, releasing true gems alongside real oddities. It keeps their slate from being too boring and/or predictable.

That's a bummer! I would've jumped at the chance to own all three of those.

Thank you! I only called them "So bad, it's good" movies since that's all people referred to them as. Like I said, I just think there are better movies out SF could pick up but then again, a lot of the better runs are either what didn't sell well or WB, Lionsgate and Echo Bridge are just too ****ing greedy.

If they do not release films because there are "better ones", however you define better, then nothing would come out because there are strengths and weaknesses in every film.

Howling 2 is filled with so much unintentional humor that it ends up working in its favor, distinguishing it from the "usual" bad movie.

So bad its good is simply saying that a film of low quality or performance has mitigating factors. It is literally a BAD MOVIE, that is so poorly made it causes it to be funny, in turn INTERESTING.

Why not just say you like it for those reasons? Why can't anyone? Why say "so bad, it's good" as a defense? Just say you like it. And okay, I should say better in the sense like there's a film that's legitimately good but was buried or at least something with better effort. An example off the top of my head for the former is Paperhouse and Tales from the Hood, that one is pretty good. Hell, Shout releasing Ginger Snaps, that'd be awesome. But we all know who owns that one.

This. I love all types of genres of films, especially with horror. Whether it be an old black and white classic, 80s cheese fest, modern torture flick, ect. I love it all. I'm not saying I would take The Howling 2 over just about any Vincent Price film (I made up a wish list recently and Howling 2 was in the middle of the pack, many below a stack of Price flicks I would love to see first.), but I would still love it to have it. The Vincent Price collection is my most anticipated release along with The Fog, Bodybags, Pince of Darkness, ect. Like I said before, I buy just about anything Shout releases regarding cult films, and everything Scream releases. I'm not picky when it comes to horror or genre picks. Sometimes you are in the mood for a good serious film, other times you want to throw a movie on with friends and joke around with it. That's why I love horror films, you can find just about anything in the genre for anybody.

Damn that's too bad, I haven't seen any of those but have heard good things about all three. Didn't Criterion release the latter two at one time? Maybe they can get the rights back. If you guys can't release them, Criterion would be the next best thing!

Hence, So Bad, Its Good.
You said it much better then me.

Well we are, we're not saying so bad it's bad, we are saying so bad it's good. It's fun to watch because how bad it is. The Howling is a whole other beast though, like already mentioned. It is just not a bad flick, but a throw everything at you including the kitchen sink type of movie. There is no rhyme or reason, and it doesn't have to make sense to be in this film. It feels like the Director just wrote down everything he came up with on some sort of drug trip, threw it it a blender and The Howling 2 came out. The whole film is just so insane and out there it's not like anything else you've seen before. I have no clue how he convinced Christopher Lee to be in it, unless he signed on before reading the script or just really needed the money.

Actually, for the sake of S&E-geek trivia, no:
It was reviewed on the same 6/9/79 episode with "The Promise" and the Peter Sellers "Prisoner of Zenda" (both panned), but no record on what the dogs that week were. (If anyone knows whatever happened to that vintage S&E archive site, let me know.)
Due to the grindhouse/snap-judgment nature of the segment, though, most of 70's-80's Wes Craven (up to and including Elm Street 1) and pre-Scanners David Cronenberg were dogged for their time.
(Even Phantasm and Love at First Bite, for no other crime than opening in B-theater drive-ins a week before taping.)

Christopher Lee already said in interviews that he had good experiences working with Mora on "The Return of Captain Invincible" and felt he "owed" him one more picture.
His personal opinions of H2 have also been expressed elsewhere, with characteristically elegant tact.

The term "It's so bad, it's good" is overused anyway, you could just use that defense for any bad movie.

Sucks. You tried though. Ms. 45 is an amazing film.
Dracula and Frankenstein would have been an interesting pairing.

Maybe they'll come to their senses, particularly regarding the Ms. 45 pricing.

Is saying "It's so bad it's good" not saying you enjoy the film?

It is just specifically saying you enjoy the film because of the reason I previously stated. I think it add entertainment value to a would-be horrible movie.

Yeah lets change it up. Everyone buy the Vincent Price collection so we can get a Vol. 2!

If you haven't seen a Price flick before, there is no better time to dive into his catalog then with this Bluray release. This vol. seems to focus on his classier more respected flicks, hopefully vol. 2 can dive into his more schlocky but fun flicks such as Madhouse and Theatre of Blood, as well as Tales of Terror, Twice Told Tales, and of course the sequel to his classic Dr. Phibes, Dr. Phibes Rises Again.

I wonder if a Fly collection is out of the question, with the original film and its three sequels?
