I agree. Hopefully SF revisits the other two Ninja movies. I know Cliff has stated that they want to see how sales do on Ninja III, but I would have to think that releasing the first two films would attract a much wider audience, and possibly boost sales of part 3 for those that want to have a trilogy, of sorts. As always it's tough to read the tea leaves, and SF would be placing a lot of time/money up front for something that might not be a big seller.
Even a prepackaged trilogy would be pretty neat.

I read an older chunk of this very thread, and noticed that cmac didn't shoot down one particular title (as far as I can tell):

They missed their chance earlier this year with the release of John Dies at the End.

Or maybe they'll release it in October.

I have to say, Part III was my favorite of the three, so I'm glad they started there. A box set would have been nice too. I'm looking forward to getting Lifeforce. I wish a lot more of the 80's Cannon movies were available like Avenging Force, American Ninja and Invasion USA.

Absolutely agree with these movies 100% These, along with American Ninja 2 need a great bluray treament. I am sure Sam Firstenberg would be willing to do commentaries on AF and the American Ninja ones. Getting Michael Dudikoff would be awesome aswell.

Cliff, any comments on these titles?

I really like the box set idea. How about 2 box sets with 4 movies each?

Box Set 1
Enter the Ninja, Revenge of the Ninja, Ninja 3: The Domination, Pray for Death (Uncut)

Box Set 2
American Ninja, Avenging Force, American Ninja 2, American Samurai (Uncut)

I'm holding on to hope that the SF release looks considerably better in motion
It does look considerably dimmer in a lot of the screenshots. It certainly looks more natural than the Studio Canal release. Better in some comparisons, not so hot in others...

I haven't seen the studio canal blu-ray. Never bothered. Just held onto my DVD but the contrast boosting and more intense/saturated colours do tend to work better in some cases, judging from the screenshots.

In any case, I'm sure it'll look better in motion. I really hope so.

I kind of had this image in my head where the colours on the Scream Factory disc were going to really pop but still look natural as opposed to digital and awkward like the Studio Canal transfer looked. Ah well...

If it looks that odd in motion, on my screen, I'll certainly be a little less enthusiastic about the Cundey approved 35th anniversary edition of Halloween... Worrying.

With the exception of the screenshots posted above (with the blue background), I think almost everything looks better on the SF disc. I have the Optimum version (got it for a song and a dance from Amazon UK) and I remember when I first popped it in being surprised at how cranked up everything looked. It served it's purpose for a few years and I wasn't completely offended by the Optimum disc, but I'll be glad to retire it in favour of the SF version.

Er, the Optimum disc barely even looks like a Blu-ray. The new release is a huge upgrade.

We gave the film the look that Dean Cundy always wanted... darker, spookier, a little more blueish. I think you'lll find it looks better than the screencaps.

After two generations of overly bright, overly saturaturated, contrast boosted transfers on VHS and DVD, consumers have been well-trained to accept that as normal.

The guy who invented the term "popping colors" to describe that kind of crap should be relegated to the trash heap of home video history. Does anybody seriously think the colors in THE FOG should "pop"?

The screen caps from the Scream Factory release are orders of magnitutde superior to that ridiculous psychedelic mess that came before it.
