You seem like the kind of person who complained when the Basket Case DVD was a brighter transfer taken from the original 16mm. All because it wasn't as dark as the VHS tapes.

Well then. I was just voicing my opinion on the subject of your complaints.

I just want this whole topic to be over now. It's completely pointless. Some like the screenshots, others don't. End of topic.

So what do you propose we should discuss on a Blu-ray forum?

I suppose that people not complain about others not agreeing with them, including the distributor. I have no complaints about voicing your opinion, but you should at least not try to force it on others.

Now, can we all agree on that?

I probably did say the same thing on that topic. My reasoning was there, though: It was the exact same thing repeated over and over, all the while Cliff telling everyone that it'd be over soon.

I'm glad we could come to this understanding, though. I hope that I am not considered a bother by anyone in the thread.

The part I think you are missing though is that none of the video version have been right until now since Cundey nor Carpenter were apparently invited to supervise the previous transfers. Contrary to what many believe the Director and cinematographer don't always sit in and supervise the tranfers for their films, especially for a little horror film like this. So unless you have seen a 35mm screening, and I mean recently, not 30 year old memories, no one knows how it should have looked. If I was going to trust someone, Cundey would be a good start. Too many people believe that what was previously released were how the film was meant to look. In some cases they are right and the DVD or Blu-Ray has been messed with, but in most cases it's because they never had say back then in how their films were released to home video. Studios didn't care to pay them to supervise the transfer.

I don't like to judge by stills, so I'll wait until I see it for myself. It is my most excited release of the year so hopefully it lives up to my expectations. I know Scream knows this is a big one as well so I have faith they will deliver a quality product!

I think that all of the recent fighting is just a sign that Comic Con needs to come up really fast.

Lack of announcements from Cliff is the cause of this!

Not just regular lack of announcements, lack of big announcements. We already had 4 recent 3rd tier titles.

Don't worry, I feel the same sometimes. I just want the version I grew up with, and it's hard to accept any change, especially understandable with a classic horror film such as this, but again I have faith they wouldn't risk messing this one up. I am 100% confident they know what they are doing here and I'm sure in motion it will look much better. The darkness will definitely look better in motion and be more fitting I think for the film. And I guess if you hate it that much, there is always the Optimum or DVD release.
