Sorry . Should've specified. Some were saying Phantasm 2 had some PQ issues. I really enjoyed the first but surprisingly would blind buy the second. Love Prison though so I may go that route. Thanks for the help!

I would say "Phantasm 2" but only by a hair.

How does it compare to the first?

It takes the Evil Dead 2 route. Not slapstick, but the horror has a tiny dose of comedy. I think that it is as good, if not better than the first. I would also suggest the fourth. The third is pretty bad (however it is necessary to understand 4).

How would you react to Reggie getting into a chainsaw duel with a corpse in a gas mask?

I couldn't really get into Phantasm II, so I turned it off...

Of course I can't wait to dig it back out again after I see the first.
I've never seen any of them.
They've Just Never Crossed my Path.

The sequels only work if you've seen the entirety of the film(s) preceding it. It is a story that builds upon itself, coming together in an ending that I find chilling.

That said, if Coscarelli was going to make a Phantasm 5, I'd be all in.

But, until then, I want my John Dies at the End sequel! Come on Coscarelli, you and the actors who played John and Dave said that it would come. I would like it sooner, rather than later. I would love THIS BOOK IS FULL OF SPIDERS to become a film!

I think I'll definitely pick up Prison, the Howling, The Fog, and maybe Swamp Thing.

My copy of Swamp Thing and The Town That Dreaded Sundown shipped from Amazon. Once those and The Nest get here from DVDPlant get here (hopefully this week), I'll be all caught up.

Very impressive! I just have Halloween 2&3 but I'm trying to grow my collection.

I only have Phantasm II and They Live. I too hope to expand, with Night of the Comet, Swamp Thing, From Beyond, Lifeforce, Day of the Dead, Halloween II, Halloween III, TerrorVision/The Video Dead , and hopefully some yet to be announced titles. I might pick up Body Bags, as a blind buy.

Just for the record, I have seen and not particularly liked:
-The Fog
-Prince of Darkness
-The Funhouse
-Dark Angel

As for The Howling, it was wonderful but I cannot justify double dipping at those prices.

I'm watching the Comic-Con panel on YouTube. If anyone hasn't mentioned it yet or I just missed it, Sean Clark said they did film a "Horror's Hallowed Grounds" for "Prince of Darkness."

By the way, the crowd seemed pretty dead for the panel.

Yeah. The POD extras were announced some time last week. Sorry to burst your bubble.

I'm guessing that's because most of them expected better announcements for such a large venue like Comic Con, and they largely had the same reaction that most of the board here had as well. New releases are always good news, but when your bread and butter is Horror films and you announce a bunch of Non Horror titles you can't expect there to be much excitement.

Please, dude. You're disappointed with the recent announcements, as many are. But you just gotta move past it, as there are many more coming. I'm sorry if I offend you in any way, but you just seem to be making the same comment over and over again.

What is nice about this list is that quite a few are either already out in HD (be it HD-DVD, or blu-ray releases in Europe) or already have HD prints that have been played on MGM-HD US and UK (titles are in bold).

Ghoulies 1 and 2 have been on MGMHD as well. (But overseas - in Soviet Russia, Ghoulies watch you!) Planet of the Vampires is 60's and no star power (though a Bava film) so that seems unlikely. I'm hoping for Invaders from Mars and Planet (they're eventually doing all the Bavas) from Arrow at some point, and they just teased People Under the Stairs. Slither would be one of the few modern horror flicks I'd be interested in buying.
